And my soul! But really. I turned off the power switch on my power supply and turned the comp back on every thing was all dandy except for Mozilla Fire Fox which spazzed out and aparently deleted everything. I had over 120 bookmarks. A lot of very important information was there and now I cant find anything. I tried looking at C/Prgm Files/Mozilla FireFox/default/profiles -> bookmarks but its just the bare bones list with none of mine.

I tried a system restore to 8 hous ago before ita all happened and that didnt work out. The only other thing I can think of is a bookmarks file in my MyDocs folder whch has all my bookarks up until September of this year. Which is a problem because I added a lot of ne information since then. Any suggestions?

Come on I know there are some super computer savvy people on these boards and there is no way in hell Mozilla made the bookmarks, a fundamental and invaluable browser resource that unstable.

I blame Hitler and Canada, in that order.
If Hitler didn't do it, then it's Canada's fault.
After all... Canadians are known for their love of Bookmarks.
I'll avenge you by making out with a Canadian.

IIRC, you are screwed. What prolly happened was hitting the power button caused your hard disk to shut down before finishing any pending I/O causing the possiblibility (very high possibility on FAT32 or NTFS) to append garbage to the end of the active files. FF could no longer open its bookmarks file (because the file was garbage) and reloaded the default so you at least had something.

2 lessons:
1) Avoid hard restarts when using file systems like NTFS and FAT32 (what Windows uses) at all costs. If it garbaged your bookmarks, think what it might have done to important system files.

2) Save your bookmarks often.

Doesn't firefox make regular backups of the bookmarksfile?
I'm pretty sure it makes at least one in the profile directory.
Its too far away

I think firefox profile is kept in C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\t7bf66ms.default. To get to this you will have to unhide system folders in tools, folder options, view. Try there.
