Meh, your loss.

The NCAA tournament is without a doubt the best athletic championship competition in the U.S.

The vast majority of the athletes who participate will never even sniff a professional career in sports.

They compete because they love the game.

The same cannot be said of any professional sport. This makes the NCAA basketball tournament far more satisfying to watch than it's NBA counterpart, or any other professional sports championship for that matter.

Instead of making brackets that cover all 64 teams, we probably need to shorten it, so we can post it here, or in whatever thread we decide.

How about just the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals? That's only 8 teams and three rows. One would still have to fill in the rest of the brackets to get to that point.

I predict my Purdue Boilermakers will make it in as a 11th or 12th seed. We are a good team. We came within 6 points of beating OSU at Columbus and had the lead with a few minutes left. Same story when we went up to Madison. Carl Landry may be only 6'7 but he can play with the best of them. I saw him hold Oden to only 7 points at West Lafayette. David Teague is just amazing. He shoots almost 80% from outside the arc. Let's not forget freshman Chris Kramer and his new steals record.

Hail Purdue! We Sing All Hail!

Hail, Hail To Old Purdue!
All Hail To Our Old Gold And Black!
Hail, Hail To Old Purdue!

Thus We Raise Our Song Anew;

All Hail Our Own Purdue!

We've got the the teams picked. I've started filling in my brackets and I was wondering,

What's the biggest upset that you're predicting in the first round?

Second round?

Regional Semi's?

Regional Finals?

In the Midwest, my biggest upset is Georgia Tech over UNLV.
In the East, my biggest upset is GW over Vandy.

That's about all I've got done, so far.

That's what made me pick Tech over UNLV. My concession to reality is where I pick Wisconsin over Tech in the next round.

Graduate degrees aren't really as binding as the undergrad degrees, though. I did a lot collegiate stuff at Ohio State, than at Tech. Thus, it's OSU, all the way.

Yeah, well, my undergraduate degree is from a college in the Sun Belt, I think, and they were gone in the first or second round of their own tournament, so no joy there. I also have Stanford as a stretch, but they're dead in the water already too.

Being able to predict first round upsets is not an insignificant super-power.

My choice of Duke was a bad one because I had them going to the regional finals. My bias against Vandy came back to bite. Fortunately, I had them losing in the second round. I stuck with the seed order in most of the other matches and I didn't do to badly. I've found that 'personalizing' the brackets is usually a bad idea if I do it.

True about some of the great athletes not getting recognition. I think it's a combination of bad marketing and bad execution. The bad execution is the fault of the events, themselves. So many events can be done at the same time, it's easy to lose track of the discus because you're watching the high hurdles, and so on. Of course, if things were run serially, the meets would take days.
