Not holy. Holi - it is the celebration of the coming of spring in India. Indians - especially North Indians go crazy and become colorful Lunatic goofballs.

Holi (Hindi: होली) or Phagwah (Bhojpuri) is an annual and popular Hindu spring festival. It takes place over two days in the later part of February or early March. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the Phalgun Purnima (or Pooranmashi, Full Moon). It is also called the Festival of Colours.
The idea is to buy from this guy

Now that's a fun way to bring in the spring.
In Ohio, we're still gripped by the last vestiges of winter, so we're usually looking at slush, daffodils, and rain until mid-April.

Oh yeah...I never celebrated it until I went to college in Chennai (Madras) and later when I lived in the north, I loved every Holi. I miss it (and numerous other festivals) in the US. There seems to be a celebration in Stanford and I might go there this year.

Maybe, but that first bite of spring lamb makes Easter pretty special too. :p
