The Power of the Boycott

Anti-Social Darwinism

I just saw another headline on AOL about Rosie O'Donnell. I know that she, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson and a host of others provide hours of annoyance for many people. I hear complaints from people, not just here on NSG, about how unimportant these people are and questions about why the media considers them so newsworthy.

So, if we really want to stop seeing them and hearing about them, why don't we boycott them? Stop seeing their movies, watching their talk shows, reading and responding to blogs about them. Cut them out of our lives altogether and deal with the important stuff like Bush, Blair, Bin Laden and Smunkee's redneck neighbors (who, by the way, I do find more interesting than O'Donnell, Cruise and Jackson probably because Smunkee is more interesting and a better person than they are).

AP admits to ignoring Paris for a week. Should of made it a decade or two.

I already don't watch The View. It comes on at the same time as Ellen.

Guess which one I like better.

I enjoy hearing about the wacky stuff celebrities do. It's entertaining.

It does lead to some amusing stories. Like that whole scientology nonsense. What a laugh.

Well, boycotts can be effective, just ask Captain Charles (although I imagine he's dead now, so that may be difficult).

I find the 700 Club even more annoying then those idiots.

I'm not sure. If I had the choice of having sex with Pat Robertson or Rosie O'Donnell, it might take some time to make up my mind.

I choose suicide.

Celebrity culture is indeed bollocks, and, lustrous though it is, a boycott simply would never work.

In a more British sense, Boycott is indeed omni-potent.:D

If we ignored them and they went away... my god, what a wondrous, momentous day that would be! No more attention-mongering celebrities; how the world would rejoice. We would hold hands with the terrorists, we'd lay down our arms and join in a melodic chorus of "Kumbaya".

Not a bad third option...

This just in: Celebrities to blame for terrorism. Marines have invaded Hollywood.
