I notice that, like Conservapedia, this site currently doesn't allow the creation of new accounts (I suspect heavy, heavy vandalism is the cause, though I can't see any evidence...they may have good mods). EvoWiki, on the other hand, is still open. Says something about the philosophies of the two communities, I think.

Yes. It's even a scientific concept. In the sense that it has previously been tested experimentally and found largely to be untrue.

Basically the formation of living matter from non-living matter. A related topic is spontaneous generation.

When will these goddam creationists realize that Genesis is exacctly the same as every other Circum-Mediterranean creation myth, accept Evolution, and move on instead of corrupting the world with their right-wing Christian crap?

Something like:
"The data that scientists claim support the Big Bang theory of the universe's origin are inconclusive at best. For example, the BBT predicts a certain spectrum of cosmic microwave background radiation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Firas_spectrum.jpg
Data collected by the Cosmic Background Explorer, however, look like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Firas_spectrum.jpg
Look at how different those are! If the BBT was correct, the data from COBE would match the theory so closely that you wouldn't be able to even see the error bars on the graph, they'd be so small. But in actuality...oh. Shit."

look, i nkow where you're coming from. ip'm a physicist (to an extent) myself and i think that science currently supports evolution as the reason why we're here having this conversation. however, science itself can be seen as a matter of faith (not the logical, methodical aspects of science, but faith in the veracity of the experiment, faith in the results, etc.) and so the two aren't that dissimilar. and I also think I shoulnd't dictate what other people can and can't believe, no matter how much i feel its wrng for them to do so.

But having faith in the results of experiments is reasonable, given the track record of success it's not illogical to distrust those results. Religions don't have any verifiable results that lead to practical consequences we can observe, so they're a matter of real faith.

It is amazing the blindness that permeates our contemporary culture.
Our public schools are to blame for indoctrinating all of you into this utter hatred and revulsion for anything that contradicts your beloved hypothesis of evolution.
Of course, the reason the public schools churn out these Darwinist clones is because "Christian" ministers were so eager to compromise their faith and accept evolution way back in the 19th century. They will receive their reward.
You know how a lion becomes more vicious as it is wounded and close to death? I'd have to say that that describes the state of evolution in America.
Real science points toward a Creater of our world, not some mumbo-jumbo about species of animals evolving into new species. The idea is completely against common sense and the laws of science! Information can only come from information. Life cannot come from non-life. These are scientific principles that have been upheld in the laboratory. The sheer hate of the people who post here really opens my eyes to the depravity of the human race.

Right. Every single day, we gather more and more evidence of the fact that evolution happened for all of life's 3 billion year history on Earth. Every piece of evidence collected that's relevant to the field points to it. Not a single shred of real, peer-reviewed evidence against.

I refer you to my post with links for evidence the universe is ~14 billion years old, and I refer you to your local high school/university/middle school to get a better understanding of what is and isn't science, and how evolution is one of the best-confirmed theories in the history of science, as well as the basic premise upon which most of modern biology is based.

It is amazing the blindness that permeates our contemporary culture. Tell me about it. Some folks are so blind to the facts that they think saying "an invisible man in the sky created all creatures as they are now about 6,000 years ago". Morons.
Our public schools are to blame for indoctrinating all of you into this utter hatred and revulsion for anything that contradicts your beloved hypothesis of evolution. Nope, public schools don't dwell on evolution much in order to keep the creationist crackpots from raising a big stink. Too bad. It would be nice if they went in depth about evolution and showed just how dumb creationist arguments are.
Of course, the reason the public schools churn out these Darwinist clones is because "Christian" ministers were so eager to compromise their faith and accept evolution way back in the 19th century. They will receive their reward. Yep, the reward will be that their teachings will remain believable while the creationists are doomed to dwindle into a small tribe of morons as more people realize that the facts support evolution.
You know how a lion becomes more vicious as it is wounded and close to death? I'd have to say that that describes the state of evolution in America. That explains why creationists have become ever more desperate to gain some respect for their crazy ideas. That's why creationists are fighting so hard. Because their ideas are dying out slowly and the morons who hold those ideas are getting desperate.

Real science? Is that the science that's not peer reviewed? The science that relies on supernatural explanations, thus invalidating any claims it has to call itself science? Abiogenisis (life coming from non-life) has nothing to do with evolution. Creationists, being the dopes that they are, confuse the two separate theories.
People hate liars. People hate those who seek to teach lies to children. That's why people hate creationists.
