Obama's catching up...

According to the latest polling data for February, Barack Obama has significantly narrowed the gap between himself and Hillary Clinton. In January, the numbers were 17%-41%, in Hillary's favor, and she was more popular in the African-American community by a 3-1 margin. Now, the numbers are much closer -- 23%-36% -- and Obama has now surpassed Clinton in terms of black support. Hillary's lead has been effectively halved.

Do you think this trend will carry? Could Obama supplant Clinton as the Democratic front-runner? Or is it still too early to tell?

EDIT: I got these numbers from a CNN segment, which I obviously can't link to, so the best I can do for a source is *sigh* Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,255382,00.html).

Even if Hillary is the most popular candidate, she's unlikely to get the nomination because the Republicans have been plotting her destruction ever since Bill took office. They don't have nearly enough on Obama to really wreck him yet. The real deciding factor will be who the Repulbicans nominate; if they end up with a moderate, the Dems will probably run one, too, like Hillary; if they nominate a hardliner, the Dems will respond with a stronger liberal to counter the GOP nom.

Hehe, if Hillary is the nominee, it will destroy the world, because, 1: She won't win, and 2: When she doesn't win, a republican will. So I hope Obama or Edwards gets it because they are electable x3. This is barring Al Gore's entrance of course.

I must say Obama strikes me as being a little more electable than Clinton. His speeches are a little variable, but if you were to look at a selection of Obama soundbites (I don't have one) I reckon the effect would be pretty compelling for pretty much anybody who's disenchanted with Bush's policies, except diehard Republicans.
Clinton has many virtues as a candidate and would probably make an excellent President. But I'm virtually certain that a competent Republican candidate (say Giuliani) would beat her, less so with Obama.

I go back and forth on whether Clinton can win, it depends on which Republican gets nominated, but you know what? It's eleven months or so until the first primary. Let's ease up a bit here, kids, there's all sorts of time for things to happen. And anyway, I'm much more interested in whether Britney is going to keep the shaved head or let it grow back. Aren't you?

The Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, etc. should all form a united front against Hillary. The video game-hating bitch must not be elected!

When Hillary loses, do you think she is going to say that it is because she is a woman?

Did anyone see the Daily Show covereage of the "catfight" between Obama and Hillary? WHooo man are they going at each others throats!

It'd be interesting, to say the least. We've seen race riots, but have we ever had a... "sex riot"? :p

"I don't understand why I should apologize for another person's comments."

"OH SNAP! That was... reasonable."

I still want to see Obama/Edwards in any capacity, but I'd vote for him regardless.

We'd be screwed because there's more of them than there are of us. I guess that would be a good rebuttal to a comment liek that though eh?

Yeah and his suggestions on what to say to each other...

"are those your ankles or did you crap in your socks?" or something to that effect. :D

I liked the Obama slam better:

"Man, you smoke so much, the only thing black about you are your lungs!"

I like the guy, but you've got to admit that was pretty clever...

I'm one of those people that doesn't know who he thinks should be president until after the final debate and I really can't even say that I've formed a final solid opinion as to which candidate I prefer in regards to the others, except to say for the Republican side McCain seems to be a lot more creepy-conservative this time around than last time and as far as party orientation goes I don't give a crap who's democrat or republican, but we need a moderate.

I think Gore's stock has risen considerably....doubt he will run though he has a cause that he loves....
