Well I am posting this because I have seen alot in the media which pretty much blames the Iraqi people for the situation in their country, even some articles saying that the Iraqis themselves are cruel and bloodthirsty. And others saying that the US 'patience' with Iraq is thin, and that want to withdraw funding for their troops. I have again and again people saying we need to put more pressure on the Iraqi government to get results, and threatened a withdrawal of support. My question for discussion is why? Are the US's allies now the only people for them to blame for the situation they got themselves into.

We were very impatient to go in, and now they are impatient to get out. But how is this Iraq's fault? We created the insurgency by sacking a million strong military and putting them out into the streets, the invasion itself created these problems. I believe a recent Iraqi intelligence report indicated that 85% of the insurgency was Iraqi, and the rest foreign, which indicates that we are fighting a majority national resistance, and a very small foreign jihadi insurgency.

I believe some responsibility needs to be taken by the US, we obviously can't go out but it needs to be established the many many mistakes and incompetence of the Bush administration.

The only thing that is partially the fault of Iraq are the frequent clashes between the Sunni and Shiite factions. The root cause was the US invasion, which destabilised an otherwise stable nation, the only nation in the mid-east not rife with religious asholery.

Oh, sure, blame the US, take the easy way out. If the Iraqi people had risen up against Saddam Hussein back in the days of Bush I, we wouldn't have had to invade them and destroy their infrastructure and oil facilities and museums that contained the relics of one of the world's oldest civilizations, but did they? Noooooooooo! It was all, "Oh, we don't have any guns, and he's using poison gas, boo hoo!" Come on, if the militias can get guys to strap on some TNT and stroll through Baghdad now, why couldn't they do it then? Of course it's their fault. Feh.
