If you had to choose: Stewart or Colbert?

Yes, I understand this may be akin to asking whether it would be better to die of thirst or of asphyxiation, I just feel like opening the powderkeg on this one.

Personally, I'd take Jon Stewart. I lived with him for all those years before Colbert split off (Of course, colbert was on the daily show at the time, so that may have made it easier)

Which would you choose?

I think Colbert is funnier but Stewart is smarter.

Both are funny, but I like Stewart a little better.

Stewart is awesome, and I never found Colbert funny even when he was on the Daily Show so...

Yea, Stewart.

Stewart honestly laughs out loud more than Colbert does, too much faux seriousness with Colbert.

Stewart is generally funnier, not to mention he's a bit more honest than Colbert, though that's not Colbert's fault given he's a faux O'Reilly-like character on his show. Colbert is the kind you watch to enjoy, though when they DO goof up, it's a hell of a lot funnier on the Colbert Report than on the Daily Show, because on the Daily Show it often seems like it was intentional, when on the Colbert Report, it's not.

It is awesome when Colbert is saying something so funny even he can't keep a straight face.

I'd choose neither because Stewart or COlbert, maybe both are on C4 Music Television on Wednesday or maybe Thursday doesn't mean i watch them.

Yeah. And also, "The Word" bit is too preachy.

Whoever's show I'm able to get tickets to see in the summer. :D

You heard me, Stephen and Jon. My continued public approval of your show hinges on whether I'm able to go to a taping.

And if I can go to both, then so much the better. :)

Colbert is humorous, but Stewart is humourous.

Like so many other things in my life, i'm forced to endure the Colbert/Stewart duality, and proudly.

It remains to be seen how well a Stewart cartoon will go, however.

"The Splendiferous Zeppelin Escapades of Filliam H. Muffman" (http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/media_player/play.jhtml?itemId=58886)

Not enough people saw that one.

is this a u.k. thing? can't say as i've ever heard of either of them.

not by those names anyway. i've heard of a kind of cheese called colbert. i dont know anything about it. other then i think, though i'm not even sure of that, it's some sort of chedder.

and the name stewart, isn't that somehow related to the british royal household or something?

but i'm affraid that's all i can think of in relation to either of those names.

no offence, to who ever, what every, they might happen to be.

Stewart.

Sometimes I get the impression that Colbert is trying too hard. Being funny comes so easily to Stewart. Ask me again in a few years when Colbert has an opportnity to settle into the persona. *nod*

They're American comedians who are really quite big in the US.

No-brainer, this one. Nothing against Colbert but hello, Stewart has been my imaginary boyfriend for several years now.

Yeah...Jon Stewart just doesn't have enough distinguishing characteristics to have a good caricature...besides a big head.

They're both good in different ways, but that awful "Tek Jansen" cartoon is enough to push me firmly in Jon Stewart's camp (he's a better interviewer, too). On the other hand, I'm a huge Decemberists fan and I thought last season's finale was a hoot. In their own weird way, they're doing a better job than many "serious" reporters these days in that they make people actually think about the news rather than just passively absorbing it.

Oh, yeah, and asphyxiation, definitely. A lot faster.
