You need more choices - Chinese, Hindi, and Arabic definitely should be in the running.

it depends on where you live.......although I picked Spanish because it's the easiest of the romance languages, and if you learn one of them the rest are pretty darn easy to pin down.

Latin, Greek, and french. Learn one of those, and learning the rest of the western languages is a breeze.

If you are in the US and you are not a masochist, then take Spanish. I took German all through HS/uni and although I can speak it well, I am still going back to learn Spanish.

If you ARE a masochist, than take Arabic, Korean or Chinese. (Also, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Farsi are in demand.) Note: none of these are similar to English.

As a Canadian, I say French. But that doesn't really extend to everyone's life.

If you're an American, take Spanish. I predict that in twenty years, learning this language will be required for all students and Spanish will be a ver valuable language to know. Its best that you get a head start now.
