Favorite Meat

There's always a reason to celebrate not being a vegetarian. To further help the celebration, I'm interested in seeing what your favorite meat is. Just a reminder: there's a 10 option limit. I couldn't possibly fit everything in.

Veal is kinda my second favorite. Although you have to buy the expensive kind, from the loin not the leg.

Steak is my god though. Filet Mignon is amazing, and also the best thing I can make on a grill. Pork loin can do wonders as well.

Osso Bucco is the very meat best dish I've ever eaten, veal shank, mmmm. And leg cutlet just need to be pounded very thin, and then they're perfect. A loin chop, heaven. And even meatloaf is ten-million times better by just using 1/3 ground veal.

Kinda hard to choose. In general though, I like pig and cow, and all those fancy names just confuse me. I like filet mignon, but not ordinary steaks. I like pepperoni and ham and pork such, but not like an actual... sit-down... chunky roast pig type deal. Chicken I am OK with, especially fast-food-ized chickenoid substances, but plunk some mangled and severed limb of bird on my plate with the bone sticking out and cooked skin in front of my eyes? Ew, no. Fish I don't like. Veal is so-so from what I remember, it's been many years.

I also like human flesh, but then too it's been many many years. Sigh.

Christ, this is like Sophie's choice. I love them all. Though, as much as I adore meat, I don't eat veal. I guess I'm just a softy...and a hypocrite, because most food-animals get terrible treatment, and I still eat them. But hey, it's their own damn fault for tasting so good.

I mean, it isn't a meal unless there's meat. Anything else is just a snack.

I eat chicken the most, but I loves me some steak. So...steak. Yeah.

Fish isn't a meat?

Anyway - top five dishes in approx equal preference:

Very Rare Beef Steak
Seared Tuna Steak
Smoked Salmon
Sushi - Particulary salmon, tuna and white fish
Roast Pork with Crackling

all of them, along with a bunch of others you didn't mention. (vennison, rabbit, goat, squiral, duck, goose, ...)

not to nit pic the obvious but sausage isn't a form of meat, it's a way of packaging and prepairing meat, and any sort of meat can be used in them.

(along with a lot of other things. vegitarian sausages are even possible. such things even exist. and the're good too. but the're not a form of meat. not as the word meat is used in any present day context.)

yes if you had made the poll have one for each animal the meat comes from you could have included more of the different kinds of animals other animals such as ourselves eat.

of course if you had made it multiply clickable i would probably have clicked all of them, certainly all of them offered in the existing poll. all though i don't think highly of the practice by which cattle are reaised for veal. and a few other things, quite a few other things the meat INDUSTRY does. but i still like to EAT meat of MANY different kinds.

(and non-meat too. ok let's face it. i'll admit it. i LIKE FOOD.)

With shx: where is fish? Give me a pile of gorgeous fresh raw fish-- almost any kind-- over steak any day. Sashimi sashimi sashimi!

That said, I do like chicken. But it has to be free range and decently treated-- underaged, antibiotic-estrogen-water-stuffed-so-it-survives-grows-and-looks-big is as disgusting on the plate as it is to the moral sensitivities. Horrible to handle as a cook, too.

My favourite meats are goat brains and cow's tongue. Both are very tender. You can broil the brain either in the skull, or directly on a pan. It has a very creamy consistency.

The cow tongue is primarily used to make a beef broth for soup, but after boiling it, you can slice it and serve it cold as a tender sandwich meat. Excellent with mustard and rye.

Beef and steak are not necessarily the same thing.

Aside from the fact you can have gammon steak beef and steak arent the same- when I have a topside of beef I am not eating steak, if eating beef stroganeouf (sp?) I am not eating steak, if I get a wee bit peckish strolling through a farm, wrestle a cow to the ground and take some chunks out of it you'd have to be high to think I'd been eating steak.

When you make a meat poll you give a Yorkshire-man his beef option dammit!!

*sigh* Perhaps I should make myself more clear. Obviously beef and steak are not the same thing. However, given that there are limited options on the poll, if you really wanted to vote you could have chosen "steak" and then clarified: "I voted for steak but I really meant beef in another form". You know, since that's closer to the beef option you want than, say, "turkey".

Better? ;)
