But more importantly.. Does the Valentino gown make me look fat?

there seems to be way too many awards ceremonies recently. i have to say the worst thing about getting cable has been the fact the my flatmate's favourite channel is now E! and she watches all the awards ceremonies and that playboy mansion show. luckily tonight top gear was on so i got to watch what i wanted for an hour cuz she likes that too.

No care whatsoever. Why'd I'd have interest in what a bunch of presumptuous Hollywood idiots deem their favorite movies escapes me. The fact that Ellen is the host makes me care even less. That woman is beyond obnoxious.

Nope. Couldn't care less.
I don't really care. Maybe if Randy Newman would actually sing his songs instead of having other singers sing them, I might listen to that specific part, but otherwise no.
I was watching mainly to see whether Gore was going to announce or not. They turned it into a joke with Leonardo DiCaprio instead. It was kinda crappy.
Also, why the hell wasn't The Fountain nominated for anything? It was a fantastic movie, IMHO, one of the best I've seen this year.

Get cable.
Cable pwns space junk TV.
I'm not watching it, but I'll check on it later. Who won best picture? I really hope it wasn't "The Departed", I went to see that over its reputation and was brutally disappointed.

My satellite dish system has one significant advantage over Cable--on my satellite system, they ask you to pay extra for Fox News (along with all the Fox sports channels). I don't, so I don't have the channel. *nods*

I'm with you on that. Forest is a damn fine actor, who's been overlooked and stuck doing supporting work for far too long. About time he was recognised.
Gotta feel sorry for this guy:
Kevin O'Connell is the Martin Scorsese of the sound mixing world.
The 49-year-old sound technician has never won on his previous 18 Oscar nominations - marking a record in the history of the Academy Awards.
But Mr O'Connell, now enjoying his 19th nomination, is not bitter.

And nope, he didn't win this year either. So that's now 19 nominations without a win.

I didnt like it. Clearly, the oscars are nothing but a political tool right now, and they have made it sure by getting Gore there and giving him so much screen time.
Lets see.
-The host was not funny. Poor jokes, stupid jokes, nothing original.
-Best suporting female role was a joke. They only gave it to her because they had to give some award to a black actor.
-Letters of Iwo Jima is a quite dull, uninspired and regular movie. Just because its in japanese doesnt change things much.
-Seinfeld jokes were pretty lame and couldnt be made in a worst time, when in the same show you have so much atention on "staying green" and protecting the enviroment.
-I fear for the american film industry when The Departed, which is a well made movie, but poor, gets the best award movie. Totaly undeserved and totaly political.
- What about Tom Cruise? The guy is suposed to introduce the award, yet he stays there holding the woman stealing the spotlight. The guy is crazy already.
Anyway, either I´ve grow up and the oscars doesnt apeal to me anymore, or they have become quite sucky. Even less time for the people to thank back, most of the actors and actress there are becoming really old and ugly, which means there is a lack for new good actors, and the show wasnt entertaining at all, like it was a few years ago.
The only thing I liked was the artists who made the sculptures made of people. Also, I never liked Leonardo DiCaprio that much, but this year, after Blood Diamont, The Departed and his apearance on the Oscars, I´ve grow to respect him.

Its because Scorsese had never got an Oscar. Now they made sure to give him both the Director´s award and the Best Movie award.
Its political. They felt shame, got three of the best directors out there and made them give him the golden "doll" like one of the winers said.

-The host was not funny. Poor jokes, stupid jokes, nothing original.
To be fair, they're hardly going to have someone edgy and exciting presenting, so you can't expect much more than bland humour.
-Best suporting female role was a joke. They only gave it to her because they had to give some award to a black actor.
Colour me unsurprised - Hollywood's feeble attempt to prove they're not into stereotyping.
-Letters of Iwo Jima is a quite dull, uninspired and regular movie. Just because its in japanese doesnt change things much.
State of American audience (or rather Hollywood's attitude towards them): Anything slightly off-MOTR is viewed as amazing and fantastic. It's Hollywood pitiful attempt to show that they're international and edgy.
Also Clint's got a lot of clout in Hollywood (and money-making ability) these days, so of course they're going to toady up to him.
-I fear for the american film industry when The Departed, which is a well made movie, but poor, gets the best award movie. Totaly undeserved and totaly political.
When hasn't the main award been anything but political?
eg. LOTR III only won everything cause it bailed Miramax out. The pile of Oscars it won was Jackson's payback for having done so.
- What about Tom Cruise? The guy is suposed to introduce the award, yet he stays there holding the woman, stealing the spotlight. The guy is crazy already.
Let's face it: It's the closest the little guy's ever going to get to winning an Oscar himself. Let him have his time in the spotlight, the poor thing.

Not that I've never cared much about who got an Oscar and who didn't, it is a tragedy that Peter O'Toole has never gotten a real one. We should stage a coup. No prisoners!
