My son is a huge sports fan. He will watch just about anything that involves two teams, a goal and a projectile. Saturday, at about 1:00 pm (Colorado time), he called to invite me to a professional lacrosse game (the Colorado Mammoth vs. the Portland Lumberjax). Not having anything better to do, I drove the 76 miles to his place and we went from there to dinner (Old Chicago, if you ever get to Denver or Colorado Springs or... , try it) then the game.

If you don't know what lacrosse is, think hockey, but no ice and instead of sticks, tennis rackets with long handles and nets instead of heads and a ball instead of a puck. Otherwise, the rules are pretty much the same.

I didn't expect to, but I had a great time. The Mammoth won 13-7. The game was over 2 hours long, but it felt like no time at all had passed, it was that fast-paced.

I think lacrosse may be an up and coming sport in the States.

Would you go to a lacrosse game?

Yeah, I would.

I've seen the east coast College lacrosse games on ESPN. They're very entertaining.

I would.

I used to play ‘pop’ lacrosse in school, basically a kids version, with plastic nets.

But I much prefer shinty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinty)
