Guilty Pleasures?

Everyone has a few things that they are embarrassed about liking. We may even be "closeted", making fun of it in front of others, but really enjoying it at heart.

For instance: It is no secret among my friends that I hate dumb humor: fart jokes, puns, etc. But for some reason I love shows like Jackass, which features guys making fools and/or hurting themselves.

What about you guys?

BTW: I still hate Bam Margera though...

I like to walk around naked, but I dont tell anyone about it.

Also, I enjoy reading manga, something I really dont tell anyone about it.

If I had to choose between revealing one thing or another, I would rather say I´m a hidden nudist.

A guilty pleasure, by definition, is something that you enjoy and in which you indulge even though you know (or believe) that it is bad for you.

A "shameful" pleasure would be, on the contrary, something that you enjoy and in which you indulge, but for which you feel ashamed--shame likely to be manifested in a reluctance to admit to your indulgence.

The two are not mutually exclusive, since one may feel ashamed of indulging in pleasures that one also believes are bad or have harmful effects.

However, it is possible to feel ashamed for partaking in something that we do not believe actually hurts us. For example, people have mentioned enjoying this or that television show without admitting it to their friends. Well, such shows may be considered shameful in certain social circles, but unless you believe either that a) watching such shows actually makes you dumber; or b) such shows can only be enjoyed at the expense of certain "higher" pleasures; it is not necessarily true that these are "guilty" pleasures, in the proper sense of the term.

Likewise it is possible to feel guilty about a pleasure--e.g. rich chocolate ice cream, if you are counting calories--without necessarily feeling ashamed about your choice.

Yes, well, you have the excuse of being a parent, Sinuhue. I don't.

And Futurama is meant for older viewers anyway. I'm not sure I'd let a four year old watch it, mainly because I'm sure they wouldn't understand much of it and they still imitate everything they see too much at that age. (I know because I've a little brother that's seven years younger than I am. Sure, he's almost thirteen now, but I still remember what he was like at four.)

I so rarely come here anymore. It's just my luck that there is at least one good thread around when I do. Anyways, as if my sig didn't give it away, I do so ever much enjoy hentai. And not just pics either. I have several movies and games in my collection.

I prefer hentai games and movies mostly because they have much better plot, with some exceptions of course. But most of what I got would be watchable even it there wasn't any sexual content in them. Some I would even claim to be better than much of the rubbish that Hollywood has been coming out with in the past few years.
