Split Earth?

OK, here's one of those extremely unlikely hypothetical situations:
Some bored, but uber-powerful alien decides to duplicate the Earth. The copy is exactly the same, except that it has no people on it. He then decides to split the population, putting one half on the new planet, however, he isn't sure who he wants on the new planet. He tells you that you are going to be put on the new earth and that you are to decide the criteria by which the population is to be split up, i.e. who will be on your half and who will be on the other. But the numbers must be approximately equal.
And finally, the question: what do you decide? Who will be with you on the new earth and who will be left on the original?
Note:
* The two Earths will never make any kind of contact with each other.
EDIT: Also, please say why you made the choices you did. :)
i would leave humans off the second earth, i'snt it enough that we've laid waste to one earth already

Yeah, I would probably do something similar. I mean, it's an opportunity to be altrustic by separating people who would otherwise fight, but I think that one'd probably be doing that anyway by taking people who share their views away from those who don't.
Of course, some people might say that (their idea of) good people are needed on both planets, and try to divide them up like that.

Hmm... your definition of hot and young would have to be pretty loose for that to be an entire half of the earth's population. Of course, your half could include all the hot young women. Maybe the rest could be made up of unattractive men who won't make competent rivals?

as for the unnattractive males, i'd be one of those guys...

On the old Earth:
a) all adherents of creeds that impose second-class citizenship on unbelievers, don't afford women equal rights with men and were founded in the 7th century AD,
b) anyone who is unwilling to oppose said creeds,
c) adherents of other theocratic creeds and cults, including but not limited to the WBC,
d) communists, socialists, collectivists, statists, Marxists, Leninists, Maoists, Castroists, dictators and their henchmen and followers, and anarchists,
e) violent criminals, and
f) homosexuals, pedophiles, necrophiles, coprophiles and human participants in bestiality.
N.b.: some of these categories may overlap.
On the new planet: everyone else.
Reasons: class (a) have proven they cannot coexist with anyone who doesn't submit to their creeds; class (b) don't think it's worth fighting for to be free from class (a) and thus don't mind being dominated by them; classs (c) and (d) are almost as bad as class (a) as threats to human freedom; class (e) are burdens on society we can do without; and class (f) are mistakes of nature that the human race is better off without.
Most likely, class (a) would soon eliminate classes (b)-(f) before long (althought classes (d) and (e) may make it a fight), and then they'd have the entire old Earth to themselves, like they think they are entitled to now. And since the two Earths would have no communication, the rest of the human race would be safe from them forever.
questions...
1) will the New Earth have cities? or will it be pristine wilderness.
2) If it does have cities, will I have all the amenities and items duplicated from old Earth. Books, cars, weapons, etc...
3) will the situation still be the same? Pollution levels, climate changes etc..
4) will the people end up where they are in New Earth... Americans in America, Japanese in Japan etc... or will everyone start at one point?

I would select all the followers of God and move em to the new world. Mormons, Catholics, Baptists, Jews, and even the Muslims.
Why? let the rest of the world find out how important Religion is by removing the biggest one. also it gives the other religon a place to work out their differences.

In that case...me and those with above-average IQs get the new one.
The stupes have to stay on the old one.
The reason is simple enough; dumbness bugs me, plus IQ (although not a perfect indicator of having sense) is measurable without overwhelming logistical problems.
Heads, you go to new Earth, tails you stay on old Earth. I want a vibrant society with all of its highs and lows, not some monotonous one engineered to what I like or see as desirable. There's no fun in that.
classs (c) and (d) are almost as bad as class (a) as threats to human freedom
Anarchy = threat to freedom?
I'd have to go with the "everyone I'd like/would like" sentiment, plus everyone who wouldn't actively bother me.

Aye. I want a mixed up society of neat stuff! I especially don't want something like New Mittani's disgusting neocon wank material.
Of course, I wouldn't mind an Earth populated entirely by intelligent, social libertarian athiests who solve all of their problems peacefully and respect everyone and all that, but I suspect that kind of so-called utopia to me would be boring, especially since the other Earth would be left without our positive influences on society and could potentially degrade significantly due to that. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Some interesting responses so far. It's not necessarily easy to decide. One possibility that has yet to be mentioned it that of attempting to separate up the nations so that those who have animosity between them (or are at war) are on different earths. E.g. Israel on one, Palestine on the other.

Anyone with any religious conviction of a greater magnitude than a healthy deism/karma combination can be "raptured" up to New Earth. Since God has been the leading cause of murder and other unpleasantness, let's let them work it all out on their own planet while we clean this one up...starting with selling all of the Catholic Church's holdings, gold, land and other assets. We'll allow formalized religions on Old Earth, but as soon as they enter the political arena, they shall be taxed, like everyone else. Failing that, most people will chose to commune with the Divine as they see fit, rather than attending a building a number of times a week to compare clothing.

that's good as solution, but not for thath reason.
I'll send on the new earth all people under 30 and over 12.
young people (but not children) have more energy, more will to experiment new things and modify the existent one.
having a perfect copy of all the planet, including the things such as videos and books, will be quite easy to re-learn useful things that someone could not know.
and off course we'll be finally free to the old-age pension problem!!!

Not if there was an infinite amount of space for it to fill.
I'd give everyone a choice, and if one option is much higher than the other, I'll decide by lot between the contenders.
I guess I just like most people... it would be agonizing to force some to stay or go against their will.

I'm glad to see Planet Selfish (everyone I like/would like) is getting the support it deserves.
And the great thing is that such a planet would still have all the diversity and vibrancy that all the other arbitrary divisions lack. Just because everyone likes/would like me, doesn't mean that they might not get on with one another, and so conflict and debate still exist to push the world forward. Of course, if ever anything gets out of hand, I just need to pop on down and sort things out, and everyone will respect the Word of the All-Liker!

There isn't an infinite amount of matter; nor is the Universe infinite in size. It is unimaginably large, but finite.
We can give a number to the number of fundamental particles in the Universe with a fair amount of accuracy, if not precision; it's around 10^79.
