How's life on the mousewheel?

Do you find youself getting frustrated by the endless monotony of pacification and emasculation placed upon you by the state as you waddle along on their mouse wheel? Tired of being herded up their ramp to the slaughter, whilst being fooled to think you should be happy about it? Sick of carrying the load of your Gimp-mistress whilst being whipped into thanking her for it?

I am.

Not so much the state, but society in general is pissing me off right now... God that makes me sound like a twat.

Just out of curiosity, what is emasculating you?

Just out of curiosity, what is emasculating you?Indirectly, the state. I am sick of playing into their game. The entire construct (The government-as seperate from the state-, society-as influenced and herded by the state-, and the economy -as throttled and manipulated by the state-) is keyed towards keeping them on top, and I am the one who does them this favour in silence. This is where the emasculation kicks in. For, thanks to the brilliance of their construct, there is not a thing I can do. Whats worse, and insufferably patronising, is they expect that I would not even reailise what is going one.

But what to do but bitch on an anonymous internet forum?

i don't think there was anything particularly extravagant about the language in the OP. my post above may have been, but then i enjoy exercising my vocabulary and will make no apology for it. a forum such as this provides a perfectly suitable arena for it. take your misplaced anti-intellectualism elsewhere.

Hmm? Oh, no, those weren't a stretch of my vocabulary at all. It's just that I saw his rant for what it was: an angry rant that doesn't concern me one bit. As such, I felt that his using any decent vocabulary at all was an attempt to make his rant look much more attractive.

pish. i don't take kindly to people denigrating my desire to learn. the best way to learn is through use of the things you discover. there is not a hell of a lot that is good about the english language, but the one thing i like about it is the huge variety of words that can be used to express oneself. i don't think there is any good reason not to use those words when attempting to convey a nuanced meaning or when wishing to be absolutely clear of ones intentions. of course, it's a learning curve involving a lot more than consulting an encyclopaedia i can assure you. if you don't know a word that you read in a book, or perhaps in a forum post (i've had to consult a dictionary several times while reading other's posts on here), then look it up and improve you ability to express yourself. i don't suppose for a moment that i've used any words you do not know, but what is the point of challenging someone for using an extended vocabulary? especially since the OP didn't. he used rather expressive imagery certainly, but not unnecessarily so.

well i don't put as much effort in as you seem to imagine. i do consult a dictionary when reading other's posts if i don't know a word and wish to respond, but i don't consider posting here important enough to trawl through a thesaurus to find just the right word. i'd do that for essays with a tight word limit, not here. the most i'd do here is to look up the exact definition of a word i was already planning to use if i wasn't entirely sure it was usable in the context of what i was saying. most of my vocabulary comes from having my head stuck in a book ever since i learned to read. that it is not as extensive or certain as it might be is probably down to the fact i have a brain like a sieve and the attention span of whatever has a short attention span since some bloody know-it-all scientist decided to prove goldfish have a longer attention span than previously thought.
