I wonder when the first murder will happen in space. It's bound to happen eventually. Big news! Maybe it will renew public interest for space exploration...

it's the FORCE that they talk about in Star Wars. think about it. it has a light side and a dark side,
it's easy to get stuck on the dark side,
and it's the thing that holds the universe together.

Crazed astronauts is a big deal nowadays isn't it? Now because of one case we are going to worry about all of our space voyagers going psychotic. Great. Lets see if paranoia can go any further.

Btw, I must say it is great to no longer be an Uber Spamgirl. I feel like a totally new NSer. :)

Unless the crazy crewman is HAL. Then Houston surely has a problem. ;)

Trance: Oh, wasn't he the one that bought a farm?
Harper: THE farm, he bought the farm.
Trance: is there a difference?
Bekka: Faulty seals and a weak airlock door.
Trance: ohh... that is different.

Andromeda was certainly a better show with Keven Sorbo then Hercules ever was. And compared to TOS, Andromeda is much better.

You see that episode of the Simpsons where the family is at a sci-fi convention? Neil Armstrong is there and his agent tries to get the nerds interested.

Agent: People, people! This man has actually been in outer space!

Edna Krabappel: Ha! Nobody cares!

Why are there no weapons about the International Space Station?! Don't they know they are inviting our new alien overlords to just waltz in and take over?!

Oh, like any weapons we could put on the ISS would make a difference.

Speaking of the ISS, we haven't finished it, the governments concerned have made commitments to do so, but there are still no plans to use it beyond 2015(?) or there-abouts. Talk about a monumental waste of effort if it's just abandoned like Sky-lab was.

We had a crazy dude (as in genuinely nuts, in need of Thorazine Schizophrenic) come into work, who told us that the US had nuclear bombs on the ISS to threaten the North Koreans with.

He also told us that Tony Blair had given him a spaceship to take all the handicapped people to the moon, so that they can find jobs. I called the police to drag this nutter off shortly beforehand.

By the way, what's up with the reference to pigs and crusades in your signature? I can't make anything else out, but I'm guessing it's some kind of utterly offensive insult to the Islamic faith?

Andaluciae: Why have him hauled off by the police, though? Sure he was nuts but he didn't commit any crimes, did he?

He had started to yell and scream because we wouldn't let him talk to John Glenn. I got concerned and the natural response seemed to be that I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Well I hope he found some decent psychiatric help rather than being tossed in a jail cell, as jail cells are no way to treat the mentally infirm.

Lets not condemn it yet. It's not complete because new modules can only be launched on the Shuttle, and that was put on hold after Columbia burnt up. The Russians will still send up astronauts from all of the member nations, but by the time 2015 rolls around, we'll be knee deep in Orion and going back to the moon.

I hope so, but the government can be so shortsighted sometimes. We may have to divert those last few million dollars that NASA gets to other programs in order to make my Social Security payments.

As long as the new Congress doesn't cut the program within the next few years, we'll be safe. We'll be to heavily invested by 2009 to cut the program.

Quite honestly I don't care about NASA. I care about the private sector's attempt to get into space. NASA has been a bungled government organization from day one, created only because it was yet another dick waving contest with the bloody Soviet Union.

I like to think that, somewhere out there, a first grade student is working on a class assignment where they announce that, when they grow up, they want to be the first person to commit a felony in space.
