Abigail Phelps said that the protesters plan another event at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cambridge outside the funeral of Jerome Robinson, 8, and Aaron Robinson, 12, who drowned in a pond Sunday after falling through ice.

The boys' father, Jerome Robinson, is an Army sergeant in Hawaii, and returned home for the funeral Monday, the Star-Democrat reported in an article apparently viewed by Phelps.

The Guard Riders were indifferent to the protesters, they said.

"They're insignificant," said Russell Burks, a Harford County Patriot Guard Ride Captain and chaplain, about the protesters.

I would suggest some classes of interviewing for that Julie Banderas girl, she needs to learn to shut up after issuing a question. The whole point behind an interview is to letting the guest to speak, she's talking all the time at the same time of that wacko lady. If she really craves that much to say her opinion, she can wait until the interview is over, if she just wants to lead the subject, she could be start to be subtle and get better questions and points. Half of the time you need to decipher what the hell are they saying that loud. Are shows always that way in the US?

I think they should be allowed to do what they are doing. Although it is preferable for the ghost-riders to show-up, if the group didnt exist I would hope (as part of its duty to reciprocate the loyalty and sacrifice of the service-people and their families) that the government/nation would provide persons to shield family, friends and loved ones from the spectacle, should the family wish it.

It's protestors' right and it is just and pragmatic to protect and uphold such rights.

I strongly disagree with your opinion regarding to censoring the group, however, other suggestions in the thread are worse in my opinion - I chose to respond to yours, not because it was the opinion I most objected to, but because it's a reasonable opinion that I disagree with, (unlike suggestions involving for instance bombs).

Somebody once suggested to me that the Westboro Baptist Church is actually promoting the cause of homosexuality and attacking christianity by protesting the way they do. That they are actually deliberately generating sympathy for homosexual rights and defaming christianity.

I'd love it if someone protested them with a taste of their own medicine and call them 'fag enablers' whatever the hell that means and basically turned their own jagged view of reality back at themselves.

Hmmm, apparently they are planning on holding one of these idot protests at my school some time soon in response to the theater department putting on a play about Matthew Shepherd(sp). I'm just hopping it is at a time whe I'm not in class at work so I can join in with any counter protest. I remember the last time something like this happened only it was a lone nut that time, a bunch of students and faculty completly surronded the guy and just turned their backs to him so you couldn't see what he was up to, was pretty funny. Honnestly, though the oddest bit is that since it is a Jesuit university it isn't that often it gets acussed of "supporting the gay agenda."

Credit where credit is due: At least Fox gives Phelps & Co. the disparagement they deserve, instead of agreeing with them, like some other broadcasters. Pat Robertson has been careful not to say too much about 9/11 ever since he and Falwell agreed that it was God's punishment for tolerating gays, but you know he's still thinking it...
