It’s nothing to do with national pride or whatever, I would have voted UK or Britain if the option was available. But saying I’m fro England is just plain wrong. Like accepting USA as the same as Canada.

...not quite...considering the USA and Canada have no real connection, as opposed to Scotland and England, which do.

They may be politically joined, but geographically they are two separate countries. You wouldn’t get English or Welsh people voting for Scotland as their place of birth, now would you?

I spent a lot of time in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada up to September 2005 (When I came here), though.

With luck I will move around a bit more in the future, hopefully to either the Middle East, China, or South Korea. Que sera, sera; for now I like Ottawa.

Don't take it too badly. Note the full name: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain is England, Scotland, and Wales (and possibly the islands like Jersey, Guernsey, Man, Wight, and whatnot). The United Kingdom is all that plus Northern Ireland.

yep, the channel islands are part of great britain. but not part of the british isles. the other islands are part of both. but the channel islands and the isle of man are not part of the UK. i really think britain needs to get a common policy on its smaller islands.
