Crazy. Religiously crazy. Like the priest in Romania who nailed one of his nuns to a cross in 2005 because he thought she was a demon.

"The spirit that is in me is the same spirit that was in Jesus of Nazareth," de Jesus says.

To my beliefs, that is actually true. However, that does not mean at all that he is God or a new Jesus.

I also find it funny how this is exactly the kind of stuff that's supposed to happen according to Revelations. Many 'Anti-Christs' and 'Jesus Reincarnates' falsely getting people to believe in them. However, I don't think I'm necessarily going to consider Revelations true (I currently do not, see it as only parable)... yet.

Let's crucify him.

Actually, he makes sense when he claims we are all divine. He's teaching a panentheistic Christianity.

well, of course we are irrational, what kind of idiot thinks otherwise?

anyway, speaking of idiots.....

"Antichrist is the best person in the world," he says. "Antichrist means don't put your eyes on Jesus because Jesus of Nazareth wasn't a Christian. Antichrist means do not put your eyes on Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Put it on Jesus after the cross."

how long do you think it took him to twist that into something palatable to those people?

I mean surely that's not his opening line?

What does "Jesus after the cross," as opposed to before the cross, mean to you?

I'm sure he gave him the line about Kool-Aid first, then threw that in afterwards.

Also, I believe if an actual reincarnation of Jesus came, we're all supposed to just 'know' it is him.

CNN has gone out of their way to make this fellow look like a fool in their "news" article, but I suspect that, closer to the truth, he is simply a member of the emergent (http://agnosticgnostic.blogspot.com/2007/02/on-edge-of-razor-blade.html) church.

Actually, he makes sense when he claims we are all divine. He's teaching a panentheistic Christianity.

But he's not saying that. He's saying that he is divine, not that everyone is divine. Claims that everyone has the spirit of the Divine (however you label It) within them are just fine by me; it's what I believe myself. But if you claim that you, personally, are God and others aren't, you're a megalomaniac.

And when he says his followers "can do no wrong in God's eyes" - that opens up all kinds of ugly possibilities.

However, cults such as this tend to flame out rather dramatically. The only question is whether it will be bullets or kool-aid for them.

And by the way, it is depressingly easy to make Lunatic Goofballs look sane. People do it every day. :(

Without looking, I can assure everyone here that every woo-woo forum in existence has this story pinned and De Jesus labeled as the antichrist, and judging from what I'm reading, I couldn't entirely disagree.

Well, since he labels himself as the Antichrist, there's not much room for argument... :D

Old news for me.

However, It never ceases to amuse me how people are so often surprised that someone is using religion to manipulate people for his or her own gain. Thats what religion is FOR. After several thousand years of this happening, you'd think it would no longer be a surprise.

There is always some crazy religious guy saying he is God reborn or some other wackiness. It would be nice if they were ignored as they so deserve to be. Too bad this never happens, there are always people who believe the fruitcake.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a bit in the bible that says that the antichrist will come and pretend to be christ? Sounds like he's trying to act out that part, especially with the "666", "De Jesus preaches there is no devil and no sin. His followers, he says, literally can do no wrong in God's eyes." and "De Jesus flouts traditional vows of poverty."

But I'm not a christian, so I might have this wrong.

Even the "christians" have it wrong. It's not "666", it's "616".
