United States or Canada, which do you like more?

Which country to you like more, the Yankees or the soon-to-be-Yankees. I've been to Canada a few times and I prefer it. French and English, maple syrup, waffles, hockey, and friendly folk. Oh, and mild weather. What more do you need?

Why the fuck do people start polls where the answer already known? Canada will win solely because the board is vastly anti-American and pro-Liberal.
I agree, but I think maybe you are suggesting those are... bad things?
I'd take the weather in some parts of the US over Albertan winters...but you can keep your flooded cities. I think I'd be claustrophobic in the US...I like my space thanks. There are parts of the US I might visit, but only because there are specific people I'd want to play with. I'll stick with Canada then, and escape to more tropical climes when necessary.

Too true.
As for me, the U$A wins hands down.

Just go to Montana, Wyoming, or Alaska. Nobody lives out there and there's more than enough land and wilderness in all directions.
Me? I prefer suburban and urban areas.

No. Come to northern Alberta, or the Territories, and you'll understand. Even Alaska is ridiculously populated in comparison.

Except for you poor, brow-beaten conservatives that somehow manage to make up half the board. Awww.

Unless you live in Texas, your state would fit three times over in Northern Alberta. I'm just saying...when you're used to hundreds of kilometres of space, I just can't imagine to adjusting to what space exists in the US.

Ya, the US for me (that'll be no surprise if anybody remember my past posts). If it's wilderness and spaces you want, hell, even here in Indiana we have vast amounts of open land, and we're not a large state at all; I can only imagine what Alaska and Texas are like. But anyway, America has almost everything Canada does (minus the socialized medicine, but let's not go there) and then some.
And if you think that Canadians are friendlier than Americans, take a trip to the midwest, I dare you.

There are very few conservatives here. The ones we do have are just very outspoken.
Most right-wingers on here are libertarians (and perhaps paleocons), as well as centrists-in-disguise, but definitely not of the standard Republican flavour.

No, I lived in Nevada, which would probably fit three times in (Too lazy to look up the numbers) but the middle of Nevada is pretty much un-inhabbited and open. It's only when you get to the edge of the state do you start seeing people again.

No, they are conservative because they're stupid. I'd say the same thing about Liberals if the political norm was liberal. Stupid people tend to just go with the flow. The ones who are conservative and really look into what that means, generally are able to articulate their position...the average Joe doesn't generally have that ability, because they haven't really thought it through. They just eat their political pablum and go about their lives. Ditto for the liberals who are liberal just to not be conservative. Still...because they tend to get attacked more frequently, they probably have developed a better analysis over time.

Canada has a few points which America ought to emulate (universal health care, nonobtrusive foreign policy, environmentalism) and is overall more pristine. But it's a dealbreaker that Canada's bill of rights has a "we can revoke this at will" clause. Of course, I was raised in Alaskan, so I'd have no trouble adjusting to the climate.

My thoughts exactly. It seems to happen on every forum where similar threads pop up - either the forum users (or at least the vocal ones) represent a remarkable cluster all from the 99th percentile, or there's something fishy. :p

I'm surprised Canada's doing so well on this poll. I just figured there were more Americans in NS, therefore there'd be more people voting for America.
Canada's got its problems like every other place, but for the most part its wealthy and has potential for growth and even our Conservatives are progressive in comparison to American politics. Hopefully it has a good place for the future.

I am sure that both places have microbreweries that provide good beer. I know this for a fact in Canada, and I assume it is true south of the 49th.
But I agree with you that the mass produced swill that is available in both countries does not qualify as good beer.
