Evolution? Blame the Jews.

A Georgia (USA) lawmaker has accused the Jews of spreading the idea of evolution. I guess he thinks those damn JOOOZ are trying to bring down Christianity. The ignorant redneck inbred hillbilly lawmaker has circulated a memo to lawmakers in other states to display his stupidity proudly and make a name for himself as the best village idiot in the whole country.

Sometimes I think we should have let the South go.

That's odd. I always thought these Southern evangelical types were, for want of a better word, philosemites.

If the Jews want to spread science then I'll be a philosemite. :)

He actually said "pharisee religion" and "kabbalites", so he may well just mean Orthodox Jews or something.

And I see you as a biggot and a http://www.nearlygood.com/smilies/taz.gif for two reasons. First, no where in the article did the lawmaker "accuse the Jews of spreading the idea of evolution. So the Jews are spreading the idea of evolution, while Christians use Jewish scripture to go against evolution? Judaism is the reason why Christian retards doubt evolution in the first place.

When was the last time a Northeastern state slapped a warning label on a biology book because it referred to evolution? Down South and in places like Kansas enough people are anti-evolution that they can get the school boards to do things like place warning stickers on science books, try to introduce creationism into the school curriculum and even in some cases try to ban the teaching of evolution. Up North we don't have enough people who are anti-evolution to get things like that done.

It appears that you have misunderstood this article. From what I gather, it is not at all about blaming Jews, as Celtlund also stated. Chisum appears, instead, to be seeking a way to remove the study of evolution from the schools. He is reasoning that it, along with the Big Bang theory, could be taken out the classroom if it is found to have a religious bias. Chisum is asserting that the bias is toward the Jewish faith. He proposes that either you eliminate it completely on those grounds, or you teach evolution and creationism at the same time, since they both have biases toward religion.

I don't think his argument makes one bit of sense, personally. It's a grasping-for-straws attempt at accomplishing his agenda. I did want to take a minute to explain this though, so that readers who find this thread but don't actually read the article are not mislead.

Read the frikin article. Find the quote where the guy flat out blames Jews because I could not.

In the original article he doesn't come out and say "It's the Jews' fault", but he blames Kabbalists and "the Pharisee religion". Kabbalah is Jewish religious mysticism and the Pharisees were, well let's let wiki describe it.

The word Pharisees comes from the Hebrew פרושים prushim from פרוש parush, meaning a "detached" one, that is, one who is separated for a life of purity. (Ernest Klein, Comprehensive Etymological Dictionary of the Hebrew Language) The Pharisees were, depending on the time, a political party, a social movement, and a school of thought among Jews that flourished during the Second Temple Era (536 BCE–70 CE). After the destruction of the Second Temple, the Pharisaic sect was re-established as Rabbinic Judaism — which ultimately produced normative, traditional Judaism, the basis for all contemporary forms of Judaism, with the possible exception of the Karaites.

In the second article he says explicitly that there is a Jewish conspiracy to undermine the Old Testament.

Sorry to tell you this, but Chisum is arguing that since he opposes teaching religion in schools (there's a laugh) and since evolution is the teaching of the Jewish mysticism called Kaballah, it should not be tought in school.

It is directly stated in the information the representative provided that evolution is the propogation of the beliefs of Kaballah.

"No, absolutely, although I'm a Christian, and I believe in creation," he said. Creation science is the idea that the Earth was created in six days some 6,000 years ago.

"You ought to teach creation as well as the fact of evolution," Mr. Chisum said, though he said "all of those kinds of sciences have holes in them. ... But I'm not about teaching religion in schools."

I'm confused. "I believe in creation." "Creation should be taught as well as the "FACT" of evolution." I'm really confusededed.

Yes. That's exactly what I stated. Please reread my post.

He doesn't have to - so there is nothing wrong with that.

What would be wrong is inventing all kinds of nonsensical reasons and lies to support his disbelief of evolution and his belief in - I suppose- Genesis. Which is what a depressing number of people do...

Were I God I'd weep over the fact that so many peoples belief in me is based on lies instead of true faith.

dude i dont know if you realize this but evolution exists. i mean there's actual scientific fact to back it up.

But that is not the point this politician is trying to make. He argues that since some obscure Jewish subcult believed (somewhat) the same things as scientists now present as the best available hypothesis, things like evolution, the big bang and so on are all religious positions. And therefor not allowed in the classroom.

Of course, this stance is moronic. After all, that would imply we can no longer learn anything about the Roman empire, because the Bible mentions its existence - and therefor saying it actually existed would be giving cred-points to Christianity. Or that we can not speak of the existence of stars, since their existence is an important part of the teachings of the church of scientology.

Or, if I were to base a religion on the existence of this good politician himself, that we can no longer mention or heed him ;)

Secondly, you have used used steriotypical biggoted remarks to discribe a whole section of the county.

I posted two articles. Granted the second one wasn't on the first page in this thread, but it confirms what I wrote in my OP. They claim that the Jews, not an ancient sect, but the Jews are using evolution to undermine the old testament. That's a level of idiocy you can't make up, and if you actually read through the thread you'd understand I didn't make it up, but either out of dishonesty or just not bothering to actually read any of my followup posts you and Cetlund didn't catch it.
