where's the "i hate karaoke, and i wish to smash all karaoke machines to a thousand million peices in a ritualistic orgy of destruction using jackhammers, JCBs and high explosives, and i wish to force all karaoke singers to listen to themselves and their peers on constant repeat (in sound proof rooms) for the rest of their lives (with the speakers turned up to 11)" option?

Where're the real カラオケ options? You don't have hostess bar or カラオケ box up there. Those are the only two places where one actually does real カラオケ. All others are bad foreign imitations, worthy of the contempt being being shown here... (Having been in Japan at roughly the time カラオケ became popular, I speak from infinite wisdom on the subject.)

As for my faves, I always start off with Anarchy in the UK - sets the right mood (and scares the holy hell out of the locals. (And that goes double when done en masse by a bunch of drunk gaijin in a tiny hostess bar!)

The rest depends on what system the karaoke box's on, but generally includes Born to be Wild, Aces High, and whatever Hank Williams they've got (usually that's at least Your Cheatin' Heart...)

And what in the name of all that's proper and right do you mean by "dance karaoke"?

:::wondering whether to sic the PAP crew on you, draw my wakizashi, or consider you to have been dumped into the shark pool...:::

I voted Karaoke clubs, but it's really just a restaurant.

and I sing at parties, and I own a Karaoke machine with about 870 songs.

I attended my first kareoke party on saturday (we had actually came from a birthday party and went to a friends house after being thrown out the pub - she put the machine on.

we were very drunk and it was very funny.

highlight - two grown men (with very deep scottish voices) trying to reach the "oooh ooh ah aahh" of Blondie's heart of glass.

i nearly let out a bit of pee.

i don't know if i could do it seriously, sober or at a club, or in front of strangers

i'm also fairly shocked that this abominable practice also goes on in restaurants. i mean, seriously? people screeching while you eat?! that's just a diabolical proposition. it's bad enough when a restaurant plays shitty lounge jazz or the latest boy/girl group pop a couple of notches too loud, but to actually encourage people to sing along as well is just mind blowing  . the only restaurant i've actually appreciated the music in is a local sudanese restaurant where they alternate between bob marley's 'legend' and music from sudan. it turned out that they were selling some copies of the sudanese music and i got a couple of copies which was an awesome find... but that is the one and only time, and the music was playing at a volume at which it was possible to talk without raising one's voice and spitting food everywhere.

my mind is boggling.

Our video store here has an option...if your movies are late you can either pay the fee or sing karaoke on Friday night at the store. Most everybody opts to pay the money.

Kareoke is horrible. I hate the bars and avoid them like the plague. I feel embarassed for the people singing. It's pathetic. Although it's funny when someone follows a religious song up with something obscene.

I just got back from a Kareoke Bar
a while ago, so I am posting semi drunk,
where I enjoyed Kareoke dancing and
to hear other persons Kareoke sing diffrent songs,
most persons who Kareoke Bar sing
are good singers, they should be stars,
each with thier own style and moves.

I recomend it for those who have never been to Kareoke
as something new for a change of pace even if you
only go once.

I once posted drunk and some Dude posted back,
Hey Dude friends dont let friends post drunk.

I wanted to make the Public Poll options on Kareoke as broad as possible,
I thought about a I hate Kareoke option but I would have had to sacrifice
one of the home options, if I had 11 options I would have posted it in.

Nobody but you seems to have heard of "karaoke dancing" - you could have left that off and substituted three "I hate karaoke" options...

I haven't been to one or tried it in the traditional manner, but i've taken turns at singing whilst jamming with other musicians - does that count?

I wanted to make the Public Poll options on Kareoke as broad as

possible, I thought about a I hate Kareoke option but I would have

had to sacrifice one of the home options, if I had 11 options I would

have posted it in.

Kareoke dancing is just dancing at Kareoke places,
I wanted to make the questions and options sound nice,
What do you like to Kareoke do?

Sing, hear others sing, Kareoke dance too, some persons like to sing,
others to hear others sing, others to dance, others all of the above.

Updated Post, last night now,
I just got back from a Kareoke Bar
a while ago, so I am posting semi drunk,

Since this was such a popular Kareoke thread the first time around,
as your semi-drunk Kareoke thread host I hereby bring you Kareoke II by popular demand, posting drunk, lol.

Tonight was the Birthday party of a real good friend of ours,
so we all gathered at the Kareoke bar to sing, hear others sing,
Kareoke dance too and sing Happy Birthday to our good friend.

He got up there and sang Happy Birthday to me with all of us
standing on stage singing along with him a Happy Birthday to
you-him our friend.

Most persons who sing Kareoke are actually good singers
each with thier own moves, thier own style, they should be
professionals artists.

Post your favorite songs by name, artists, & or lyrics,
or all of the above, and vote what do you like to Kareoke do?
sing at Kareoke places, hear others sing, Kareoke dance too,
at Kareoke Bars, Clubs & Restaurants, at Home or Partys, etc, etc, etc.

For the Restaurant poll option just use your best judgement
and post it.

Have Kareoke fun with this thread.

I once posted drunk, and a Dude posted back,
Hey Dude, friends dont let friends post drunk.

Karaoke sucks. I like to play the song myself. I can't sing, but I can try, and I can play guitar (albeit not veery good... but then again Jimmy Page would say the same about himself and has) and want to learn harmonica... so I can do Magic Bus.

Ah, yes, the vocally challenged bitching about karaoke. No surprise there.
