Past life memories?

This is going to be a wierd one and no doubt some people will just dismiss me as a nutter :) so be it -

My experience:

Running through a trench, I'm carrying a rifle. A comrade throws a grenade around a corner. It goes off. We run around the corner and I see a soldier lying on the ground, his pistol is near him. He grabs it and fires. It hits me in the head and I fall. I smell a smell like when rocks are crushed. I have enough time to think "Good shot" and realise that I'm not going to get up again before it all goes dark.

This is something I've "recalled" twice now with a long time between. I was wondering if anyone else has had anything like this. I've never been in the armed forces beyond failing the Royal Air Force medical on eyesight for pilot training.

I am a believer in reincarnation.

Not a nutter, but there could be other explanations. I've had similar "memories," including one where I'm swimming in burning water and watching what I knew was my ship sinking from what I knew was a torpedo strike. Maybe it's reincarnation, maybe it's residual memory from old movies or books that you've read.

You watch way too many war movies.

Especially since grenades have a kill radius measured in tens of meters.

I don't usually watch war movies, but sure. The thing is it was the sheer reality of it that left me wondering. It's not the usual thing I'd dream of and most of the time I can tell when I'm dreaming.
