The Ultimate Prank Site

Sadly, I can't trick you lot with this, since you need the victim to be right there next to you, but feel free to prank your friends and family and report the results back here! :D

Alright, here's how it works: First, go to peteranswers.com (http://peteranswers.com/). You'll see a simple question-and-answer interface, with the simple requirement that you begin each query with one of two standard "petitions". Now, if you type in something normally, you'll be given a junk response. However, if you know the trick (which is never revealed on the page itself), it works quite well.

The trick is this: the site is designed to allow the prankster to type in the answer to the question secretly, via the "Petition" field. Just click on the field, type a period, then start typing the answer you want it to give. You'll notice that the site will insert the proper petition letter for letter, no matter what you're actually typing. When you've finished, type another period, then finish off whatever remains of the petition.

For example, if you type in: ".yellow.lease answer:", it'll look like "Peter, please answer:" onscreen, and "yellow" will be the answer it returns. Use the longer petition to cover long answers and phrases.

If you're a good actor (and typist), you can really freak people out. Be prepared to get creative for the eventual existential questions ("How will I die?" "Why are we here?" etc.). 'Tis fun -- try it! :)

It took me a minute to figure it out, but I got it now - and that's pretty cool. It would take a while to get used to, and you'd have to be a fairly quick typer - but man, that would be fun. Until they wanted to type for themselves.

My brother told me about it over the phone -- he said that he and a few others had used it to prank a large group. They explained the junk answers by saying that the site "only worked for certain types of people".

And taking the time to post in a thread dedicated to it?

oh, that does have some benefits, unlike the thing the thread is dedicated.
