I saw this on the news last night. Scary stuff. I wonder if he's ever going to go skydiving again?

That sucks!

I'll look for it elsewhere. It's really quite impressive.

Apparently he said that he won't give it up. I suspect the next weeks he might do some deep soul searching...and most likely carry on.

A lucky man indeed and an amazing video.

Especially towards the end, where he "waves goodbye" to the camera. *shiver*

while that was sad to watch... the "crunch" at the end was painful.

She'll be fine. Skydiving is a relatively safe sport believe it or not. There's only one death per 100,000 or less. The car ride to the DZ is more dangerous than the skydive itself.

Tandem skydiving is even safer. Most ppl die in the sport doing stupid things they know they shouldn't do in the first place.

There were only 56 deaths in 2006 worldwide.

That is incredible footage. It hurts to watch the end when he hits the ground. The sound is sickening.

yeh i did it myself a few years ago, in the south island though, queenstown. just makes me wonder if there might be a reason why it is so much cheaper to do it in taupo... eep!

but i think the reason is it's less touristy and not quite as spectacular scenery.

that video's pretty harrowing though, hard not to worry about my little sister :(

Of course you are worried. It's a scary thing to do.

But if it wasn't scary then it wouldn't be fun.

Damn....

I think the saying "if at first you don't succeed, then skydiving isn't for you" will ever be thought of the same way again...

It gets chilling the last couple seconds before impact. Really chilling. The sort of chilling you get from watching that in a dream. Only you can't wake up here.

However, lemme point out the irony at the end when his partner asks "Are you okay?"

"I just hit the ground at 70 miles an hour. NO I AM NOT **** OKAY!"

Done. If it's gone, I can email it or maybe reupload it. But on your comp, you need a special player. :(

Yeah, but what else are you going to say? At my DZ a guy had his main collapse on him at 60 ft (icarus's finest). When Joe asked him if he was okay he flipped him off.

At least the skydiver knows he isn't hurt *that* bad if he's being asked the question. It's better than "You're going to be fine buddy, it really doesn't look that bad."
