Computer issue (Win XP)

For some reason one of the computers here in the office has stopped recognizing a USB device (not all of them, just one), and it's Device Manager doesn't populate. It just sorta stays blank, so you can't tell what devices are installed and what isn't.

Suggestions?

The only suggestion I have is that you plug it into another computer. Sorry.

Try plugging the device in another usb port.

I think it may be that a certain service has been stopped and device manager doesn't work properly without it. However, I can't remember the name of the service, I shall look it up in a bit.

USB gizmo works fine in other computers. Guess I'll go turn on every service available. Someone's screwed with this computer and now it's printer isn't working.

Aha! It was a service, re-enabling every thing brought back the USB gizmo too.

Start>Run>msconfig>Services Tab

Just hit Enable All, then restart your machine.

All your USB ports are like that?
