Meh, we get them fairly regularly. The other week an actual bomb was defused under a bridge that takes people across a motorway and out of the city centre.

Is this to do with that BNP nut case they were taliking about on the news?

Heh, I only had one in my four years at my school. Still, the town seems to be taking this scare a bit seriously if they are evacuating the entire town center. Probably a false threat though. Hopefully, anyway.

Yeah, hopefully we get to see some fireworks :D

Unlikely. He was arrested back in October or November. I remember making a thread about it at the time.

I don't know why they were talking about him then. I expect his trial is comming up soon. I'll check the BBC website for news about this new one.

Consider yourselves lucky.
We have 'Crazy migrants with guns' drills because, for some reason, it became popular to cross the border in pickup trucks with rifles for about a month.

We used to call the middle of the week 'Lockdown Wednesday'. Oh, and once we spent three hours locked in our classrooms because a kid jumped the fence around the school.

I tell you, theres nothing like the teacher saying, "Yeah, if they want to get into the classroom theres not much we can do to stop them. The windows right next to the door will break pretty easily so its not like the locks will stop them."
Apparently its against school regulations to barricade the doors in the event of a lockdown.

I dunno if you remember the attempted bombings at Heathrow and the mass of arrests going on last year, but around half of the arrests and woods searches took place within 5 miles of my parents' house

Well from what I've heard there's been a controlled explosion. Streets nearest the town centre have been closed off as invsetigations continue.

Maybe the bomb went off and Londim's dead.

I forgive you. It's not like this town hasn't been the centre of news stories before for example a suicidal cop who bludegeoned his wife and child to death before killing himslef with a hammer. The scary thing about that is that it happened right around the corner from me :(

Well I'll be moving away when I go to university. But you must feel some pride for the town. As once famously stated by some members of our school:

Suspicious package in high street

A Kent town centre was sealed off for several hours after police received a report of a suspicious package outside a McDonald's restaurant.
A controlled explosion was carried out on a laptop-style briefcase which had been left in High Street, Gravesend.

Police said business premises in the surrounding area were evacuated before the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was brought in.

The item was detonated at 1530 GMT, more than two hours after it was found.

That's it so far.

I was only there for a year. The only teachers I remember were Mr Bowers the rugby teacher and Mr Murphy the science teacher. Oh and of course, the two language genius Mr Jarvis and the legendary Mr Dowlatchi
Londim
13-02-2007, 20:11
Mr Jarvis retired last year. Oh how his catchphrases still live on:

"You appear to be sitting in the extra work seat"
" I think it's time for a little story..."

What a legend.

Mr Murphy left a few years ago and the other two were before my time.
