Ok, I have a big audition quite soon and I need to choose a song to sing... But I have absolutely no idea what I am going to sing. So I turn to all of you guys on NSG to help me choose!!
Also, it has to be suitable for my age group...Which is 12-13...
I was thinking something like "Whistle Down The Wind"
I dunno.. But HOPEFULLY you guys will!!
Thanks

If you want to impress the judges, sing something soulfull because it is hard yet contemporary at the same time.

I have no clue. All I know is hard rock. But I can come up with Iron Man by Black Sabbath. It's not easy to sing like Ozzy Osbourne.

absolutly not, at all, ever, under no circumstances.

No woman should EVER attempt to sing whitney huston. They just end up sounding like crap in comparison.

I don't know what the title to that song is though.

That was actually originally sang by dolly Parton in a movie called "The Best Little Hoarhouse in Texas."

The title is of Course, I will always Love you.

As for what you should sing:

"I Believe in music"

"sing a song"

"So hard to be Humble"

Ok, well, the question is: what is the audience you are singing for?
If it's grey-haired old grandmas, you'll want to choose something different than if you're singing for a rock band.

Closer. It's perfectly suitable for 12 to 13 year olds. Assuming you're twelve to thirteen. If you're like thirty it's fucking creepy.

First of all, what is it an audition for? And secondly, do you know what voice part you are?
Poliwanacraca

I really can't answer your question without knowing (a) what kind of voice you have (at the very least, knowing what part you sing would be helpful), and (b) what you're auditioning for. In the meantime, "Whistle Down the Wind" is a fairly easy song, and sounds best when sung by a soprano with a fairly pure, bright tone. If that describes you and what you're looking for, then go for it. :)

"Into The Void" by Black Sabbath. Incredible song. About the earth being mangled and mightily fucked, and a group of people traveling into space to search for a new home. Or "Day of the Baphomets" by the Mars Volta...although it probably isn't appropriate for the age group, and it is twelve minutes long...but I think that singing you know... "I am the reason/For your missing child/He might be home/But there's no trace./Under your pillow/I have left a spine/Oh, the things we do/When you're away... That would be pretty much the best.

If all else fails, Listen to all of the works of the Beatles, preferably the later stuff, as there are many bloody great songs. Catchy and will (hopefully) go down well, plus you are practically guarunteed some points if your audience is in the age group that were into the Beatles hella much.

I Want You So Hard(Boy's Bad News) by Eagles of Death Metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagles_of_Death_Metal)
In their first concert with Guns N' Roses, a concert in Cleveland, Ohio on November 24, 2006, the band was not well received by the crowd. When Axl Rose came out to perform, he asked the crowd if they enjoyed "the Pigeons of Shit Metal," and announced that the show would be their last with Guns N' Roses. Shortly thereafter the band released a statement regarding the incident:

“ At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city. Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o' mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die."

Swinging on a Star - Bing Crosby (though Bing's backing singers sing more on that than he does :D )

Nothing Compares To You - Prince (yes Prince did the original for those that only heard the Sinead O'Connor version though I think her version was better)

Every Time (we say goodbye) - Simply Red (though I know someone else did it first its only Mick Hucknall I can remember)
