Saddam as ally? Bush as an enemy?

It is my opinion that Saddam could have been a useful ally in the War on Terror, if we didn't have such a stupid President who invaded Iraq. Iraq was the only country in the region that was not governed by Shar'ia law. I also think that the world should have just left Iraq alone in 1990. They may have even invaded Saudi Arabia. Both Bushs totally screwed things up in the Middle East. This invasion of Iraq has only hindered our War on Terror. I would really like to find someone on NSG who is one of the 36%-43% who actually support George W. Bush. How is it possible for our nation to have this many stupid people in it, who actually think that Bush is good for this country? His stupidity has only made the threat of terrorism worse. Come on. Is there anyone out there who agrees who Bush handled things with Iraq? I would love to hear this insanity.

Just for debating's sake, why would you want Iraq to control both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait? Just curious how that would benefit the US.

I can't say much about Kuwait, not having that much knowledge about it, but with the house of Saud torched, which would probably have been Saddam's first act, he'd at least bring some more benefit to the people there simply by not enforcing a dark ages theocratic rule.

Sure, he'd oppress the Saudi people, but maybe he'd do something about the standard of living and education if he was boss.

Saddam was a bastard through and through, but at least under him, the average person had a decent standard of living.

The US government has enough phallic things to fulfill it's penis envy for the moment, but it thanks you for your kind offer.

Meh. This whole beatification of Saddam has been going on for the last two years (to mess with the definition a bit). Not surprising it should pop up here eventually. In other words, [insert list of Saddam atrocities] doesn't speak well for him, as has ben said a thousand times, and there's no tragedy in him being removed from power in any event.

As for Bush's approval rating, polls usually ask whether or not you approve of the overall job the President is doing. It's not unreasonable to have a positive overall opinion while acknowledging that there are always problems now and then. I wouldn't call it "insanity" to have a positive view, i.e., agreement with the majority of the policies the Administration is pushing.. there's a good many, and many do make ideological sense, even if the implementation has been retarded by budget problems due to war expenses, etc.
