Agh that'd be terrible. First off, Cheney'd resign right away. I know I've heard him somewhere saying that under no conditions would he ever become president. That would mean he'd resign, and then we'd get..... PELOSI..... NOOOOOO! Cheney would've been terrible too (and we'd invade Iran), but, anything but Pelosi! haha

Well, there are grounds to impeach the president and several key members of his administration on grounds of criminal conspiracy to commit fraud against the people of the United States. The intelligence used to justify Operation Iraqi Freedom was clearly false or flawed and yet it was used anyway to justify the war. Organizing to provide false information to convince people to make a dangerous investment that proved unsuccessful? Fraud. Of course, it's not going to happen, but from a purely legal standpoint, it's possible and valid. Of course, Scooter Libby is starting to drag some big names down with him in the Valerie Plame case.

Criminal conspiracy to commit fraud against the people of the United States implies the President was aware of flawed intelligence sources from around the world. The British, French, German, and Israeli intelligence agencies all came to the same conclusion: that Iraq has weapons of Mass Destruction. This is the same intelligence used in 1998 when then President Bill Clinton authorized the bombing of Iraq with stated purpose- to remove weapons of mass destruction.

Any thought process ending in the call for impeachment of the President based on flawed intelligence reports that were beyond his control is pure conspiracy theory...

Okay--I bolded too much. The big lie is the sentence before that one. But what does it tell you that the Bush administration was depending on information that was 4 years old in order to make their decisions? And I'm not even going to get into the cherry-picking and stove-piping that the OSP did with previously debunked intel. No--you continue to believe that everyone saw the same intel and came to the same conclusion if you want to. If this were the first time this "debate" has been covered on this site, you'd have a point. If it were even the fiftieth, you might still have a point. But this debate has been a part of these forums for the last four years. We argued over it when Bush was pushing toward war, we argued over it when the WMD weren't found, we argued over it every fucking step of the way, so drop your fucking elitist bullshit. There is no debate anymore, because the fucking facts are in. That you haven't seen them or acknowledged them is a failing on your part, not on the situation as a whole.

One option would be to impeach Cheney first. But then Bush would nominate Rice for VP, and then she'd be president. No gain there. But it would almost be worth it just to see all of the extreme right-wingers deal with the fact that a black woman was now president.

Or, if Rice wasn't confirmed as VP before Bush exited, the Speaker of the House is next in line. That's right, President Pelosi. Lots of fun scenarios here, aren't there? :p

Although many may not agree with his policies, the President has done nothing to deserve the call for resignation.

He is partly respnsible for further destabilising the middle east and the deaths of anywhere between 400,000 and 900,000 Iraqis. He deserves far more than a call for resignation.

The British, French, German, and Israeli intelligence agencies all came to the same conclusion: that Iraq has weapons of Mass Destruction. .

I havent heard that line in some time. However -

"There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Thats from a Prime ministers meeting (British) on the 23rd July 2002.

Any thought process ending in the call for impeachment of the President based on flawed intelligence reports that were beyond his control is pure conspiracy theory....

See above. You might also explain why Bush said "The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach." in light of no weapons being found by the inspection teams in Jan, 2003 during a meeting with Bliar.

Hardly the idea of a man hell bent on avoiding war, is it? Especially when they discussed going to war in march, regardless of the UNs final decision one way or another.
