Ok, so I play MxO (Matrix Online) as well as my Flight Simulator. As a result of playing an MMORPG, I get to encounter some noobish activity. The biggest one being that alot of the beginners think that they are Neo and can do anything and everything that he can do! In fact, one player did that, and some higher levels (he was a single digit level) players killed him. When that happened he typed something like "You can't do that, you can't kill the one! Devs, zap them!"

Ahh it was just funny to watch. So, have any of y'all encounter noobish behaviors when playing your favorite games online?

In RuneScape (http://www.miniclip.com/games/runescape/en/) noobs will frequently try to trade me crap (like raw chiken, feathers, logs, empty beer mugs, ect.) for hundreds of thousands of Gold Pieces.
Though I personally do not care to much for the word "noob" as people use it too much, and it gets annoying.

You got me started....

Halo 1 for PC Online:

-Those douches that can kill you with a head shot auto lock hack

-N00bs who hide in the modded cliffs and snipe

-Tank campers

-Those dumbasses who take thier hogs around driving up peoples asses (This applies too ghosts as well)

-The people you can unload 3 clips on, and they turn too fire a shot in your face and kill you.... (Not exactly noobish, just gay really)

The fact that you play Runescape makes you a "noob." Sorry.

I admit, the game is dumb, but wouldn't that make too many noobs in the world?

Except that the forums are for the game, not part of it. What happens in II has no effect on what happens to a nation's page in the game. The UN is sort of related, but it's still just part of the forum.

But the game has an effect on the forums, I look at it as a different level of the game, just like the other games have different areas that may or may not have an effect within the main game stage.

Totally. Reminds me of all those shortchange level grifters that always seem to crop up around the mission plaza in EotA and do nothing but twisties and HK's. Those stupid noobs always have their macros in a bind.

...yeah, I have no clue what I'm talking about. :p

Other things that are based on games do not count as games, I'm interested in finding out why an average (although rather fast) message board is the exception to this rule.

Well, given that the nation names are the handles for General... It could also be said that non-character RP happens here, the same as any other in-game chat function, or even a bar in (Insert fav game here). Finally, of course, if you don't bother to check on your nation from time to time, you cease to exist.

In any case, I was refering to the rules in II where certain RPs are off limits unless your nation has a certain population or you can't engage in throwing nukes unless you've gotten that issue on so on.

It's simple. NationStates appeals to certain people, and these certain people noticed the forums. A lot of them started out on the Role Playing and Nation States forums, and then decided to give General a go, which is how this community started.

There are still a few of those very posters around. This forum wouldn't have nearly the same flavor it's acquired over the years were it not for, well, the way everything happened. And the Gameplay forums are the central reason General's the way it is, and will continue to be throughout its existence.

Noob.

Before it closed down, I played an online game called Forlorn Hope. All I would do on it was search the tiled map for unsuspecting players, both online ones and offline ones who were too stupid to use a bed and have my gypsy steal from them. I would then leave a kind message for the player that it was I who had stolen from them so they would know who to check for on the bounty list. These activities led me to become about the 12th greatest criminal in the realm.

In my career I recieved many threats from Noobs on both my character and my person. One player threatened to have their husband's uber level character come and beat me up.

oooohhh, scary

Trying to RP on SWG (the only reason to continue playing it, I might add - I have a Station pass, so it's not like I'm paying for it) is an exercise of stupidity. Everybody is either a Mandalorian (or a relative/friend of the Fett clan... or even Boba Fett himself in some instances), a Sith ("always 2,682,692, there are... 2,682,691 masters and an apprentice..."), a close personal friend of Emperor Palpatine, an orphan, or something completely stupid like a Predator from the movie of the same name, a vampire or a Jawa that just happens to look like a Bothan. And those people who try to play as Stormtroopers when their character's name is Smoky Bacon or BibBoobtuna just need to be re-educated.
