i just watched a bit of Stargate SG1 and it had two actors from Farscape in it. having not watched either programme for a good number of years i have no idea what the story is. did they combine the two programmes as some sort of "OMG isn't this cool! look! they live in the same universe/dimension thingum!" plot twist gimmick thing? i used to quite like farscape but i got bored after a season or two.

No, they're in their 10th season and some of the original cast have left. Richard Dean Anderson and Don Davis being the two obvious departures. Rick Anderson had been toning down his participation for some time. Don Davis just left, not sure why.

Claudia Black first appeared in Season Six or Seven, not sure exactly. They just brought the character back. Presumably because she's funny and without Rick Anderson around, well they need the funny.

Oh also Morena Baccarin from Firefly plays a character as well. Lexa Doig from Andromeda plays a character, Adam Baldwin from Firefly guest starred in an episode. Both Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks have guest starred in episodes of Andromeda where Lexa Doig played the titular character.

The last few seasons of FS are the better ones anyway.

ah i see. damn, and i was really hoping for a "OMG isn't this cool! look! they live in the same universe/dimension thingum!" plot twist thing! :( oh well, i guess that's why people do fanfiction.

I'm kind of curious where they take the plot lines, though with it canceled who knows.

No, Ben Browder was brought in at the start of Season 9 to lead SG-1 as Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell, and Claudia Black had been in an episode during Season 8 as Vala Mal Doran and came back as a regular in Season 9. Now they're in Season 10, their final season.

They just happen to have worked together on Farscape. Their characters are nothing like their FS characters. Vala is a bubbly girlish character and Mitchell is a boring straight-laced kind of guy. Nothing like Aeryn or Crichton.

Actually Crichton and Mitchell characters arn't too far apart.

She's bubbly and girlish when it suits her. Ruthless seductress at times also. Depending on what works for her at the time.

Actually Crichton and Mitchell characters arn't too far apart.

Crichton more had that goofball, smart guy, getting by on being completely hopeless thing going for him, whereas Mitchell actually has some useful skills and talents. Crichton's were purely tactical, and Mitchell's a more hands-on guy. Plus, the personality is much more serious and restrained than Crichton's.

At least, that's how I see it :\

Claudia Black is an Alien Theif/Smuggler/Black Market dealer. she got... attached to Micheal Shanks character. and she joined the SG1 team after running into the next set of 'gods'

Ben Browder joined to replace Sam's position on the team. since they needed a military person leading it.

Yeah but Carter is still there, you'd think she'd be in charge over the FNG.

[SPOILERS for beginning of Season 9]

Mitchell was shot down during the battle with Anubis (end of Season 7) in one of the X302s(?) and so O'Neill promised him whatever posting he wanted when he got well. He requesting heading SG-1 and got it. Well, Jackson was going to go to Atlantis, Carter was in Area 51, or going to go to Area 51, whatever, and Teal'c was heading back to Chulac. Mitchell was going to have to build his own Sg-1 from scratch. It took Vala showing up and linking herself to Daniel for the team to end up staying put at the Stargate Command and staying on as Mitchell's team, which is why he leads and not Carter.

.... omg I watch too much SG series ;[

How about you EDIT that last post and use WHITE SCRIPT?

Saying "Spoiler" and then immediately following through with it doesn't really work too well...

Just a suggestion!

Well they are planning (and Stargate plans have a habit of changing, so who knows) on doing 10 more episodes and 2 feature length movies. Hopefully this will be enough time to close all of the plot lines well. I personally am worried that they won't be able to close out everything well in the time they have, and I love Stargate so that would be a damn shame.

Well, they're already airing those last 10 eps. in the UK, so don't worry about that side of things. As for the movies, I think they've already started working on the first of the two, but I may be mistaken. If they haven't already, I think they will be once the rest of the series has finished airing.

As much as I hate to admit it, with the character switch on SG-1 I cannot maintain the required suspension of disbelief. As such, even my latent interest in the new episodes that might have existed has been gone for quite some time. I feel like a dinosaur who can't adapt to anything new lately. Booooooo.

To be honest, it didn't even occur to me to do so ;x Everywhere else I've ever been, if you see [SPOILER] and don't want to be spoiled, you just don't read. And thanks for telling me what to do; you didn't sound rude!

To be honest, I was a little BLAH with the cast change at first, but I was heavily into Stargate: Atlantis anyway, so I eventually dragged myself back into SG-1. Season 10 is actually quite awesome after the boringness of Season 9. Or, rather, what of Season 9 I actually watched <.<

Unfortunately, it's pretty much why they're being forced to cancel. No one cares enough to watch it anymore. It's just not the same without Jack. :(

Carter's there, but not in active Off-World role.
