Some teacher may or may not have made the statement "Most suicide bombers are Muslim" in a conversation on the pros and cons of religion. Some students claim he did say that, and he wasn't even given the chance to speak in his own defense.
Also that statement might well be true. I don't have the statistics right in front of me, but it seems to me that only two groups routinely engage in suicide bombing. Islamist terrorists and the Tamil Tigers. I don't know which one conducts more suicide bombings, but it may well be the Islamist terrorists.
Why has this teacher been fired?

Saying "most suicide bombers are Muslims" is NOT the same as saying "most Muslims are suicide bombers."
So yeah, I think it was stupid that the teacher was fired.

Well, they're terrified of upsetting the extremists and causing more attacks. But it doesn't matter. Once the world is mine, I intend to destroy Religion and all hope. So Even if you're not an extremist but religious, you're still dead.

Interpretation - there are suicide bombers, and like other people, they might have a religious affiliation. The bomber who struck a convoy in Iraq happened to be Muslim. In this case, we are saying that the suicide bomber happens to be Muslim. Yes it's telling us what group he belongs to, but it doesn't say that members of that group are inclined to that line of thinking.
Therefore, saying "most suicide bombers are Muslim" is not grounds on which to justify termination of employment.

I read an article way back in the day that said some kid got sent home from school for wearing a t-shirt that said "Jesus Saves" or something along those lines. Principal is a very political position. He/she is the fall guy for a very political organization: the school board. They all tend to twitch a little too quickly to cover there butts. Cause there's nothing more scary than a large angry group of self-righteous parents.
