Yes, as the title suggests, on Thursday and Friday i was in for a Myringoplasty, Which in basic terms means They have repaired a hole in my Eardrum. Right now i'm dizzy, choking thanks the breathing tube irritation, and spent the weekend throwing up (only to discover that was because of my medicine.).
I'm on the mend now and i'm off work for two weeks. And my question is this. Have any of you had a bad hospital experience? If so, what happened?

last time i was in hospital i was so stoned i was giggling the whole time. and then they gave me codeine. it was great fun. but the next day was torture - my bag had been left in the ambulance with my tobacco and papers in it and the nurses wouldn't let me bum a cigarette off them. my parents had taken all my clothes home to wash them so i couldn't just get dressed and check myself out. i had to wait until 4 o'clock in the afternoon when my dad finally turned up to pick me up. i'm sure he did it to punish me, bastard!

I'm on the mend now and i'm off work for two weeks. And my question is this. Have any of you had a bad hospital experience? If so, what happened?
My left lung broke two years ago and it became like a baloon without any air in it. So I had to stay in the hospital for three weeks. When I came there they put a tube in my chest. It hurted like hell when they put it there because the tube whent through the left side of the chest straight in to the area where the lung is so it could suck the air out of there and let my lung repair itself. I didn't want to be put to sleep either when they did it. Anyway, it didn't go to well because my lung was to badly damaged so they tried to put yet another tube in which didn't work out either. A couple of days later they operated me and basically cut out the damaged part of my lung. So today my left lung is smaller than my right. But everything wasn't fine yet. My lung still couldn't function so they put me in the ventilator for a couple of days. It turned out I had cought a really nasty bacteria which they were able to fix by calling in a specialist on bacterias who lived 40km away. I got the medicine that I needed and had to stay in the hospital for another week until I was healthy enough to receive the medicine through pills istead of injections. When I came home they'd also given me instructions of excersises I should do to excersise my lung. I didn't go to school for two weeks after I came home.
Physically it wasn't that hard to endure thanks to the morfein I got. I used more than neccesarry bcause I liked it so much. But mentally it was a bigger challenge because not being able to do anything else except eating, shitting, breathing, wathing TV and sleeping for three weeks gets booring.

Most don't fix themselves without surgery - the chest tube counts as surgery, but I suppose you mean them going in and doing something more invasive.

er.. hi.
You know, I had an operation a couple years ago to remove a cyst from the back of my neck. My first and only time in the hospital was a brief stay in the emergency room, where I was getting a gaping hole in my right hand stitched. It took about ten minutes, and it wasn't a bad time at all (though the initial pain of the anesthesia injection was something else entirely).
Also, it's nice to see more of the old posters coming back to NS. Hope yas stay, pal.

my last time in surgery was my vasectomy.
It was alright... I had two nurses (I think one was training) flopping my sausage around as they covered my parts and a wide area around them in that common orangy stuff I cant remember the name of. They spoke of how I shave it all off even though the doc said I only need to get the hair closest to the genitals. What can I say? I like it smooth all over :P
The doc came in and the nurses watched as he gave me a shot and then cut into me and snipped the vas, burned the vas closed and sewed me up. THey wouldn't let me watch the procedure.
It all took about 15 minutes and I was up and out.

I really, really hate anethesia. It feels like what I imagine death would feel like. Except you wake up. I just don't like that you're gone then back with no time at all in between. I tried telling them in my last surgery how much anethesia bothered me. I was panicked and terrified and asked them to please tell me what they were doing and when they were going to start the IV to knock me out. They didn't really care. They hid my IV stand from me so I couldn't see what they were giving me and when. Got to love "The Caring Difference You Can Feel" at my hospital.
I was then doulbly freaked out when I found out I spent 3 times longer in recovery than I should have. They wouldn't tell me why either.
