Bumper Stickers....T-shirts......and stuff

This weekend I printed out a bumper sticker for my friend.....and I was thinking, how interesting bumper stickers are, I mean you are basically putting something out there for people to read right? they assume you agree with it, because why else would you stick it on your car.....and I was struck by how short they really have to be for someone to be able to read them, and why do we put them there anyway? I mean do we really expect for someone to have a stoplight epiphany?

The most popular bumper stickers in my area come in three catagories

1) the humorous

2) the political

3) the trendy

I often sit at the stoplight and read the bumper stickers in front of me and wonder why that person chose what they did to represent themselves.

I think about that with T-shirts too, I mean I have a few that people will come up to me and comment on, one is actually my husband's and it's hilarious when I wear it because people come up and say the most idiotic things.

it says

"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups"

I am often privy to a wealth of information based on people's comments to the shirt....it's so funny.

Anyway, all of that aside (or not since I did type it all) what do you think about bumper stickers and t-shirts? Do you have a favorite?

In the interest of full disclosure there are 3 bumper stickers on my car.

"I am John Galt."

Heh. I haven't played KoL in a long, long time, but that bumper sticker reminds me of its existence and thus makes me want to go play it again. :)

I had three on my car:

My favorite: "God was my co-pilot but we crashed in the mountains and I had to eat him."

From Tombstone, AZ- "Justice is coming, and Hell's coming with us!"

and my MST3K "Join Us!" bumper sticker, with the planet logo and the silhouettes.

I miss my car. *sniff* :(

I have three, although they're all fading and coming up at this point. One was the school mascot in the Vitruvian man pose that the Bioengineering department put out. One was for a local radio station - they gave me top-grade gas for $.99/gallon, so I figured I'd let them put their sticker on my car. The other is the equality sign sticker from hrc.org (blue with a yellow '=').

None of them are actually on my bumper, though. They're all on my back windshield.

One of my all-time favorites that I've seen, though, was a parody of the "W The President" stickers that said "F the president." I also really like one that said, "Save trees. Remove a Bush."

That reminded me of this guy I knew in high school who had a sticker on his windshield (about in the spot where the mirror attaches) that said "Mean people suck" and then on the top of his back glass one that said "I suck"

I laughed so hard, and he never figured out why.

Some favorites:

I LISTEN TO RAP -- at every #@*%ing red light.

I FOUND JESUS -- and I'm not telling you where He is.

My kid sells weed to your honor student.

THESE COLORS DON'T RUN the world.

Dissent is patriotic.

My karma just ran over your dogma.

Screwing the nation?

*parody of "the Empire Strikes Back" logo with "The Empire Strikes First" and "United States" in place of "Star Wars" on the border*

It's YOUR hell, YOU burn in it.

I'm starting to populate my current car with them, though it was two cars ago when I had my best stickers.

I had one which said "I am funkier than you," and one with the Darwin fish humping the Jesus fish. And I had this on a car in northwest Arkansas, close to the buckle of the Bible Belt.

Oh yeah. Right now I have an Apple sticker, a New Belgium Brewing Company sticker, and an Amnesty International sticker.

I saw one the other day:

"My teddy bear has more sense than most people"

I have a homemade t-shirt that has a fish with Jonah written in it.

I thought it was cute, most people either ask about it all confused or say something about it being offensive.

Isn't that redundant? I mean, in a circle, and with the word repeat?

I just saw a bumper sticker that wins.

It's a drawing of Jesus Christ in a purple bowling outfit, and it says, of course, "Nobody fucks with The Jesus."
