That's right, they're getting two MILLION dollars, hopefully they use the funds to train their bomb squad in the difference between a lite brite and a bomb.

This is the USA media industry at its finest.

It involves artificial creation of demand, opulent waste, lots of free advertising, litigation, islamaphobia, popular entertainment, and capitalism in one story that can told be solely through soundbytes.

Awesome.

The funny thing is that the people who really benefited from all this, even with the $2 million price tag, are the people at Cartoon Network and Turner. They couldn't have bought the level of advertising they got from this for $2 million. What would have been a small scale advertising scheme that would have only reached those who already knew about the show has now reached pretty much the entire nation and who knows how many people internationally. $2 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what they would have had to pay for this much exposure.

how silly, and the figure that was given for how much the overreaction cost was only $750,000. where'd they lose the other 1.25 mill?

It's a fine, fines need not be paid proportionatly to output. And by the way, half of it goes to Boston, the other half goes to the department of homeland securty.

So boston which spent 750k gets 1 mil, which doesn't mean anybody is getting much of anything.

Absolutely. Now, if Cartoon Network will only move ATHF into a reasonable time slot again, I could watch it live instead of on DVR.

Really, I mean, I'd be happy to drive a company into the ground and I'd do it for way less, say a nice $50,000,000, that ought to keep me going for the next few years.

Or drive a superpower into the ground and have a half-a-one... million dollars! library erected in your honor and memory for that matter.

Quite right. $500,000,000 for the Shrubbery, that makes me crazy. Too bad Molly Ivins died as that farce got under way. What she would have said! And one of the Shrubbery's aims will be to fund scholars to rationalize all the mistakes that man in the White House has made. Sheesh. Is it 2009 yet?

Isn't the golden parachute great? Of course all the arm-chair economists will argue that the golden parachute is needed to attract any CEOs at all because of course they don't get enough money when they don't suck.
