For vacation..

What do you do on vacation, or as the silly people say.. "on holiday"?

Do you do nothing and just sit on the couch? Do you go off on adventures? Visit a place you've been to many times? Try new things?

For me, I use to love going to New Jersey and staying at a hotel on the boardwalks, but anymore, all the people and the noise.. it's just not fun to me now. I'm more of a laid back kind of person. Going to the beach and sitting outside listening to the waves crashing into eachother. Or just going to Philly for the weekend and walking through museums and walking around the city.

When I'm on vacation, I don't like to have a plan; I like to.. be random.

Depends on where I go. If I'm in the Virgin Islands, I'll just go to one of the many beautiful beaches for the day and snorkel or just sit there and absorb how wonderful it is down there. Then, those nights I'll usually go to dinner. I went with my cousins every year, so we always had something to do. When we had the villa, we'd play games at night and/or watch movies. One day each time we're down there, we'll take the ferry over to St. Thomas (we were on St. John) and go shopping.

In Jersey, I'll usually go to the boardwalk/beach on varying days, or do whatever while I'm down there.

During the summer vacation from school, when I'm not away, most of my time is spent right here. Now a good portion will (hopefully) be spent in my car, driving around with friends; after all, it's our last summer vacation before college.

Anything but sit in the hotel or, God forbid, sunbathe.
I generally go out and do stuff, try to learn about the history and/or culture of the place I'm staying, explore the area and so on.

You know, for living so close (I'm right there pretty much), I almost never go there. I'm actually quite disappointed in myself right now. I really should go in the city more often.

I go to Fort Myers Beach Florida every March for 7-10 days. I see 3 or 4 Twins spring training games, eat about a bushel of Blue Crab and catch up with old college friends.

i like to go exploring all around. if i have a car then i like to find some great scenic roads. if i don't then i'd probably be in a town or city so i'd walk about or take buses into the countryside. beach holidays are a bit boring to me as whenever i go home to jersey is a beach holiday. i also like to visit as many local bars or cafes in whatever place i'm visiting, especially if there is some interesting local beverages and food available. i'm not really into vegetating on holiday, i do enough of that in the process of procrastination. holidays for me are for doing all the stuff i wish i could put my mind to when i have all the stuff i procrastinating for. if that makes sense. holidays are for forgetting my real world responsibilities and having fun because of that.

I generally get dragged to some exotic location or foreign city and spend a week walking around said place looking at all the historical stuff, as well as the scenic stuff.

I always imagine vacations as being a perfect time to kick back and relax.

Boy am I always wrong.

Case in point: I spend Christmas week in Puerto Rico. It's very nice, if a little humid, but instead of staying at the resort where were paying an arm and a leg, we decided to drive to the *other side of the island* and sight-see there. I never actually once just sat back on a beach chair with a margarita or three, like I'd planned on doing. *sigh*

Sit in the beach house, look at the ocean, eat great food, read good books, explore, relax, relax, relax.

Most of the time, my plan consists of doing nothing. A bit of TV, a bit of internet, and, in theory, lots of sleep. Which is where my plan usually fails, because I end up sleeping just as much as when I don't have holidays. I just go to bed much later (7 a.m.ish) and get up as much later (noon).

If I don't find a new apartment, then I am planning on driving down the Pacific Coast highway, from San Francisco-ish to Nipomo-ish. Then take a commuter plane to Santa Monica and visit with family and friends.

I usually get assigned a lot of homework over vacations. During the time that I'm not doing homework, I usually go on NSG or work on my story. (I wrote another page or so for it today. Yay!:) )

I usually spend my vacations at home either playing computer games, online, watching reruns on tv, or outside eating at some fast food restaurants.

This vacation, I'm going to San Diego, although I usually just sit around and do nothing.

The fact that there's more USAmericans doesn't mean you own the language. It's holiday dammit! Stop talkin' your crazy talk.

I always seem to spend holidays more busy than I would be if I'd just not taken time off work :-/

The plan is to just sit in my underpants and play computer games, but it rarely happens. Pah.

I like to go to the most obscure national and state parks. The ones where only you and the ranger know they exist. I love dealing with people day to day but hate to have anyone in sight on vacation. The last place I would go would be any city. Except, I have to say, I loved Washington DC because it has so much history and so much green space (at least in tourist areas) that it didn't feel like a big city.

It depends. I do like getting away from home, but at the same time enjoy the opportunity a holiday (note: not a vacation, HOLIDAY) brings in resting and recharging by being able to blob out at home, and to finally get around to doing all those little things that accumulate through the working weeks that need doing (like putting up shelves, sorting through my bank statements, finishing my CIV IV game).

Other than that, I try to go travelling as much as possible. I went to Tibet, Shanghai, Taiwan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and New Zealand last year. Also went camping in HK over Xmas, which was cool (I hadn't been camping from far too long). I'm heading back to NZ next week for CNY, and have yet to decide what to do with my Easter. I have 17 days off and Europe is looking interesting...

(provided I have enough money saved after my CNY/NZ trip)

I usually like to do something for my holidays. I'm not a resort/beach sort of person, I prefer going camping or something like that. Last year I went to Japan for a couple of weeks & went camping a couple of times. The year before that I spent a month in Europe, and about 10 days driving up to Uluru (Ayers Rock) & back.

HOLIDAYS FOR THE WIN!!!
