for some reason I love the cheezy cartoon....but wondered if anyone actually spends the time and/or money to play the game?

It turned into suck ass. The game has no balance or rhythm. Pokemon was and probably is (even after the fuck up job Nintendo is doing to the TCG) a far better card game.

How exactly does one play the pokemon cards? I don't get it, honestly...

"Used to" meaning that I was interested in it in 6th or 7th grade but lost interest in it after a while.

It only turned into suck arse because the people winning at it more or less became a single entity, every game and deck of cards became the same, creativity was punished or left completely. At least that's as I remember it.

That was always my fear with those card games.....either everybody's deck would become the same, or he with the most funding (spending money) would always win...as they would buy the best cards..

Try Magic: the Gathering instead. I am an occasional player, and the folks I play with are creative up the wazoo... sometimes you don't see your death until the stack hits and you're left wondering, "How the hell did THAT happen?"

I used to, but not anymore. And that "cartoon", as you call it, has been so heavily edited and distorted it's fucking painful to watch. Even though the unedited version was meh in the first place.

Same here.
PS: Despite the fact that I don't like it, I'll tell you how to spell it. It's spelled Yugioh. Learn how to spell, genius.

I never actually understood why teaching kids that people don't bleed or die when they are stabbed etc was good for them. Wouldn't it be better to teach them the consequences of stabbing someone, rather than pretending death doesn't exist and hope that they don't try it?

4Kids TV are a bunch of pussies. If I could, I'd bar them from dubbing anime ever again. They turned a show whose targets were teens into a show for 8-year-olds. When I saw how heavily it was dubbed, I was really pissed off.
PS: Anyone know the online petition site? So I can help stop 4Kids TV?

No to mention the fact that Chaos monsters increased the lameness and brokeness of the game by a factor of 100.

It's 100 times easier to understand than Yu Gi Oh, well before Nintendo took over control of the TCG from Wizards of the Coast.

Nope, still don't get it. Explanations are more helpful. *nods encouragingly*

One of my favourite tactics was waiting for an opponent to play some stupidly powerful creatures, taking control of them, turning them into squirrels and watching as the opponent gets trampled to death by a mob of huge fuzzy rodents. You just don't get that same satisfaction in these new-fangled card games.

Really, they are impressive pieces of art, but slightly demonic, which is one of the many reasons why i dont play the game
If i played the game, then i would hang out with people who played the game, which i would rather not do. Those kind of characters, not to steriotype, are, well, odd.
I almost get queezey looking at some of the cards and feel as if satan himself is looking over my shoulder, admiring his work. Cards like "King of beheaded souls lost in a pit of sticky something" and "Createn with large eyes and lack of limbs" sould not be used as cards, but tablets for the Satanic Church.
In short, no, I do not play the card game.

Yes, damn those heathens and their...kids TV shows.
Anyways, no, I've never played. I used to play a huge amount of Magic:The Gathering, which has actually gotten pretty crappy recently. I'm more of a fan of the older editions than the newer ones. Still, it's the only quality card game I've ever come across-besides poker, of course.

What the heck are you talking about?

I used to be an avid player of the card game. Won several tournaments kicking ass everywhere. Then a year went by where I couldn't for personal reasons and my once fantastic deck turned into a poor deck thanks to all the new cards that came out. I gave it up after that.
