Wooden Spoon to Italy

Wilkinson to get injured...again.

Ireland to beat France

England to win the Calcutta Cup

Scotland to beat Ireland

France to win the tournament or Wales

England to come in second

I also predict I will be hopelessly wrong ;)

For Holland to come first and second would be a remarkable achievement seeing as they are not taking part in the tournament

*Gives a cookie* Yes well done!

EDIT Dominici just scored a try for France, converted by Skrela, leading Italy 10 - 0 (already had a penalty)

Ireland to win the Triple Crown and the tournament (but not the Grand Slam), France to screw up one of the games against Wales, Scotland or England, Italy to win two games, England to start their revival in time for their defence of the World Cup this autumn (no, really), and Wilkinson to show that he's not lost his touch despite barely playing since winning us the World Cup.

Gonna have to disagree there. I think Wilkinson has become the Beckham of rugby, extremely overated and viewed as a "saviour", when he is far from it.

I don't know. He certianly never was, and never will be, upon a an equal plane with Dan Carter, however, he is efficient enough, and should add leadership, vitriol and direction to England's back line.

Maybe, but if his kicking is near its best then I reckon that's worth maybe 8-10 points a game. Plus, having someone with his experience in the side can only be a good thing, surely?

True, but I still think he is carrying to much expectation. He could play a half decent game and still be slated for not being marvellous.

Its pretty moot because the poor bastards gonna get injured.

Yeah, he has to put in a match-winning performance to justify his selection. I think it was Will Carling who said that Wilko was being picked on his form of 3 years ago rather than his recent form. I still think it's worth putting him in considering the other option is Toby Flood, who's very inexperienced.

No, I'm just getting updates from the BBC Sport website. I could go downstairs and watch it, but I'm not really that bothered by it.

The Italian's just lacked someone breaking the gainline consistentlly, other than that they were reasonably good.

Wilkinson's doing reasonably well, and England are looking better than they were, but there's more problems than just Wilkinson.

France to win but no Grand Slam, Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, Italy.

But Italy to win a match.

Didn't really make much difference, England cruised that second half. Wilkinson scored 27 points - not bad for your return to international rugby after 3 years out. :)

I don't think the person who scored every point and dismantled France in the world cup, and after a three year gap can come back and slot 7/9 planted kicks and score a (possible) try is overrated.

A few years back there was a load of stuff out about "the perfect 10", so I'd say he at least was overrated, and possibly still is.

On that performance I think Italy can beat Scotland, they've got a pack to at least match them (search party for Scotland's back row) and since Scotland are quite lightweight in midfield they might actually get some penetration there.

Wales v Ireland today. Thoughts?

I think Ireland are favourites for the title this year, but they're hardly invincible. Wales on the other hand aren't great, so Ireland should have no problem beating them.

It's 5-3 to Ireland right now, according to the BBC Sport website.

Ireland won *sigh*.

But on the excuses front, the referee was awful, at least one of the Irish forwards should've been sinbinned, not to mention the early-tackle on Czekaj at 9-12.

But today showed nothing if not that Wales has a very good first XV, but lack depth. We needed Shanklin to hit some gaps, and Jones or Williams to finish things off. We'll be back. Also the linesman's shorts were the wrong colour which clearly handed Ireland the advantage.

W00t to the Irish!
Personally, though, I can see France winning this tournament. England and Ireland have played well so far, but I don't think they can challenge the French at the moment.

I have to say, Ireland were disappointing, but Wales played very well which, I suppose, made Ireland look worse than we really are.

I hope that come the France game we can recapture our November form. If we can the nobody will beat us.
