Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow. Hooray! :D

Here's to a nice warm moist muddy spring. :)

I wonder how often Phil is actually right...there has to be a statistic on it, at least for some major cities.

Truthfully, I am a little skeptical, since our local weather calls for five more days of snow and sub-freezing temperatures.

Hey we've had about two weeks worth of winter so far. I think Phil's a little too late.

There are numerous 'groundhogs' and festivals to see whether that particular groundhog does or doesn't see a shadow.

Punxsutawney Phil is reputed to be the most 'accurate' groundhog in the United States. But I have no idea what his record is.

Clearly due to global warming, I've no doubt.

Winter has sucked here so far also, but has been coming in full tiilt lately. So who is to say.

Crap! I'm still waiting for Winter to kick in around here.

So far, we've had about three-four days of freezing and an hour of snow.

This "winter" sucks big time.

Plow it into a pile when it starts turning to slush, it will turn into takes-forever-to-fucking-melt ice.

Then come to the Southern Hemisphere (or probably even just leave the USA), it doesn't exist here.

According to the weather bureau, not that good:
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/extremes/2001/groundhog/groundhog.html

Apparently his accuracy rate is around 40%, which is less than blind chance.

Of course, 40% accuracy is prob still higher than most weather forecasters...

Apparently Staten Island also has a groundhog, Staten Island Chuck, who is reputed to have a 85% accuracy.

He also predicts an early spring this year.
