The Official List of Known "Pastor Teds"
Trotskylvania

As some of us discussed in earlier threads, a gay "Uncle Tom" is now to be called a "Pastor Ted" after former closet homosexual and rabidly homophobic preacher Ted Haggard. So, let's compile a list. Post any suggestions to be added to the list (try to keep it to public figures).

Somehow I knew this was inevitable.
Let's not stain the late Dermot Morgan and Father Ted Crilley by associating them with a self-loathing homophobe like Ted Haggerty, please.
:D
Oh, and can we add Log Cabin Republicans to the list?

They don't need to be preechers, they just need to be the gay version of an Uncle Tom, thus they are a "Pastor Ted."

Where someone actually watched Father Ted. And if you actually did, you'd find it to be one twisted comedy even more warped than Night Court ever was.

You've never seen Father Ted? Seriously, it has to be one of the funniest things ever made. You need to check it out.
Those quotes are from one of the characters, a dunken priest who sits in the corner and shouts random obscenities.

Why? They've actually been very vocal in supporting the rights of homosexuals, and in trying to get the official Republican stance on the matter either removed or changed. I don't see how they'd apply.

Because they give money and votes to a party dominated by people who would rather see them in jail than as political allies?
I think this is a pretty clever neologism, and just sent this definition in to UrbanDictionary:
Pastor Ted
A gay man or lesbian, usually closeted, who actively works against gay rights or supports politicians that do so. The Uncle Tom of homosexuality.
Named after megachurch leader Ted Haggard, who was infamously shown to have taken meth and received massages from a gay escort in private while denouncing the evils of homosexuality in public.
Notable Pastor Teds include Mary Cheney, Mark Foley, and reverend Haggard himself. Filthy hypocrites...
Let's hope it gets in...

They are just as much part of that party as anyone else - moreso if we look at what Republicans were traditionally. They are actively trying to get the policies of said party changed, instead of letting them stay and then whining that the party hates them. Sounds more proactive to me than anything.
