Would marketing microbikinis as 'outerwear' work?

It's a hot sunny day and the heat's been sweltering for weeks. So far you've gone to the beach in your bikini or even wore just a bra outside while not at the beach, but you wouldn't wear a full bikini outside unless you were on a beach, and especially not a micro bikini... but what if there was a big campaign that marketed a micro bikini as being great for wearing outside on a hot sunny day? After all, whilst it doesn't cover as well as a pair of knickers [USA: panties], it covers the most intimate part of you. So would you wear on then? Please state what country you're from when replying, because of cultural differences, cheers. Here's on example of one: http://badexample.mu.nu/archives/micro%20bikini.jpg though some offer less coverage (the bare minimum for them to be legal in certain countries). As well as stating what country you're from, please also state your gender, cheers.

since i'm male i wouldn't wear them because that would be quite uncomfortable, and the top would be rather useless.

When it's sweltering heat, every bit of difference helps. Clothes get all humid and horrible (hence stripping off to what's legal on beaches). Less clothing, more room for your skin to breath, more freshness.

but also more sun on your body. by your logic, why would all desert people cover their whole body up?

Don't the Bedouin wear those long robes cos it helps to keep them cool? Something to do with keeping the sun off you...

Because they're logical. People in the UK and USA strip down to their bikinis/microbikinis/tankinis/speedos/shorts on hot beaches. And to not much more when not on a beach. Maybe it's something to do with getting a tan.

non-synthetic fabrics (particularly hemp) breathe really well in heat, preventing you from getting too hot or humid, iirc

after living in the desert for 2 years, I can tell you that it's a bad idea to be completely naked in any real amount of heat, your body will sweat but you won't have any clothes to hold in on you to keep you cool and you will dehydrate faster and sunburn something awful and probably just die.

I've even seen one that is like a piece of dental floss, in front! It leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, and would be legal only on a nude beach. I don't dare post a pic to that one.

Depends on how you are used to heat. I live in a hot country, and I have used myself to getting out without covering myself in large robes, but wearing the less clothing possible. Of course, we're talking about relative heat of 30-35 degress (Celsius), not the unbearable temperatures of the Sahara, too hostile for normal, static life.

Of course, that microbikini thing is ridiculous. First, that kind of tight clothing is uncomfortable, and second, it tends to slide off the place all the time. Of course, you males go to the beach in shorts and don't know how much we women need to be aware of the correct position of your bathing suit to avoid showing more than you would like to show.

I wouldn't have problems is going to work in a normal bathing suit, but I would avoid that thing at all costs.

uh.......that's pretty normal here as a "cool" day in summer, we get up to about 44C with high humidity so it seems more like 47C.......in the desert it was dryer but hotter.

what is this word "severe"? ;)

A severe thunderstorm is a thunderstorm with winds 92.5 kilometers/hour (57.5 mph) or greater, 1.9 centimeter (¾ in) or larger hail, funnel clouds or tornadoes.[9] These storms may contain frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy downpours which can lead to localized flooding. This is a general definition which varies by country and is somewhat contentious.[citation needed] An otherwise weak thunderstorm which produces a wind gust of the required strength would be defined as 'severe' whereas a very violent thunderstorm with continuous lightning and very heavy rain (but without the required wind gusts, hail or tornado/funnel cloud) would not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderstorm

it's not uncommon here for us to have winds over 100mph with a thunderstorm.

Haha and I can come up with equally ridiculous mental images of women in microbikinis. I still think it'd be fine for the beach or pool and not general use, but if it did happen I think it would be silly for women to be walking around in microbikinis while all the men were fully clothed.

That's what I'm thinking about these micro-bikinis. I do wear a bikini because I find it more comfortable for casual swimming (though I wear a full one-piece for anything that actaully involves speed) but these are just ridiculous. I'd much rather just go to a nude beach and not wear anything at all.

Then again, I am from Canada, where, although we are not merely a land of ice and snow, we rarely get summer temperatures over 30-33C.

For every sexy woman who wears one, there'll be a dozen women with (frankly) not very pretty crotches wearing them. It'd be barbaric. Big ugly, crinkly, hairy muffs wherever you want.

Speaking of which, there was the famous beauty Lollia Paulina, away back in the 1st century ...

I have seen Lollia Paulina, who was the wife of the Emperor Caligula,—and this not on the occasion of a solemn festival or ceremony, but merely at a supper of ordinary betrothals, —I have seen Lollia Paulina covered with emeralds and pearls, arranged alternately, so as to give each other additional brilliancy, on her head, neck, arms, hands, and girdle, to the amount of forty thousand sesterces, [£336,000 sterling, $658,000 US] the which value she was prepared to prove on the instant by producing the receipts. And these pearls came, not from the prodigal generosity of an imperial husband, but from treasures which had been the spoils of provinces. Marcus Lollius, her grandfather, was dishonored in all the East on account of the gifts he had extorted from kings, disgraced by Tiberius, and obliged to poison himself, that his grand-daughter might exhibit herself by the light of the lucernae blazing with jewels.

As ostentatious as that dress must have been, I'd like to have seen her.
