Error reports...

I got one of those infamous error report things from Microsoft about Mozilla. Must not like that I'm not using their rubbish browser. So I just move the window aside and continue about my business as usual. Now if I can keep working, why did an error report come up?

I hate Microsoft...

I have that exact same problem, I worked out though that it was when it was making the thumbnails. If I deleted the thumbnail cache it would work fine. Once. Then it would crash again. If I turned off thumbnail view (deltails, icons whatever) then it worked fine. Next time it crashed I moved the window file to one side and scanned down the list and the last thumbnail created before the error was before one particular OGM file. Haven't removed the file as it plays fine. There's no virus in the folder either. I just don't use thumbnail view now.

hmmmm.... interesting... i will try it. :)

where do i find the thumbnail cache though? a few of the files are dodgy quality movies so one of them is probably the culprit.

The only time I ever had FF crash was when my RAM timing was a few MHz faster than it should have been, and only on Windows. Well, I guess it did crash when I was using the beta of Ubuntu Dapper, but what didn't?

In a related note I got a BSOD on this Windows install before I got it connected to the intertubes (had just installed the drivers, needed to the that reboot).

What Windows was it?

If it was 2000 or XP then how?

Do you honestly think that's why you got the report? I get those from time to time...the program will freeze up occasionally, and Firefox has had past memory leak problems.

Though I have thought about it at times...;)

sometimes when i use ff, windows gives an error report about a script being dangerous for IE, and asks me if i want to continue the script. sometimes i click yes, sometimes i click no, but nothing seems to happen.

How do I vote "Apple" and the "...sucks" part of option 2?

usually those errors meand that a file is corrupt. if that message keeps coming up, especially after a reboot, I suggest uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it. sure you can keep working but the corrupted file will affect other files and one day, you will find several programs not working.

You didn't receive it from Microsoft - it clearly states that they want you to send it to them. It's automatically generated by Windows when a program crashes.

I had that on my old comp and didn't really like it.

Next comp I get, I'll be on my own, so it will most likely be a Mac. :)

It doesn;t happen often, so I think it's fine.

OK, maybe I exaggerated a little. But it is still a buggy program. Crashes my comp on a pretty regular basis.

(Last BSOD).
