What do you guys think about these.
I have to say that when I am doing my weekly shop, I find that I get really annoyed by kids whizzing around the supermarket on them, I think they should be confined to parks and other play areas.

These things have been about for years.

Now all of a sudden some trendy brand making them gets big, everybody's talking about them like they appeared out of nowhere.

i think they look like fun, i wish they existed when i was a kid. but then i like kids, so they don't tend to annoy me. unless their parents are being totally inept, in which case it's the parents i get annoyed at.

edit: i guess they never made it across the water to jersey when i was a kid. although i vaguely remember some of my sister's friends may have had them.

Actually, I don't think they have. There have been sneaker-roller blades in various formats, but I've never before seen the ridiculous "heely" contraption before now.

They seem inherently unsafe anyway, rolling around on just your heels.

Maybe not in the US, but they've been about here for years. I remember seeing a pair with exactly the same design as Heelys about 7/8 year ago.

those look like fun too. I'v never used either, but the "Heelys" seem more prone to stop when you need to by simply not putting your weight on you heel only. Those pictured dont really but then again You;d probably know better. They do look liek more fun than the Heelys.

They are Sketchers Roller Skates and fairly priced I think. I got a lot of comments from people about how old school they were when I used them a lot in Calif even though they were brand new. :p

I did see them a lot more when I was in Europe on my honeymoon - especially in Paris.

you mean roller-skates? i had those, but the wheels didn't really go round :(.

I stopped the same way on those that I used to on my quads, turn one foot to the side to pick up friction and you can slow down, if you really need to stop quick pretend you are an ice skater "toe pick" :D (btw I loathe that movie, but my kids......addicted)

i think mine might have been fisher-price as well. evil things specifically constructed to disappoint, i'm sure of it.

were they blue and yellow plastic that you put over your shoes? because I had those too!

Yes, and they made the demon noise, but never actually moved. I guess it was to simulate roller skating while not actually rolling by making a sound that was supposed to be like roller skating, but ended up sounding more like releasing rock demons from hell.

These are not the same as those kind.
You just ride around on your heel.

I HATE those things. With a passion. I'd love to personally stone the inventor if possible. I'd keep chucking those fecking shoes at him until he dies. I don't mind how long it would take either.
