So this pregnant mother to be has been given numerous opportunities to go out into the real world and make a living like everyone else, but she keeps going back to the government for housing, food, and healthcare. Stranded Dolphin Refuses To Go Back Out To Sea

KEY LARGO, Fla. -- A pregnant bottlenose dolphin is at a rehabilitation center after refusing to be released into waters off the Florida Keys.

The ten-foot-long, 550-pound mammal swam back to shore three times Tuesday.

The final effort to release the dolphin was made by placing it amid a pod of dolphins, about two and a half miles offshore. But the dolphin refused to stay with the pod and swam slowly back to shore.

Marine biologists have been caring for the dolphin at the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota since it stranded November 11, 2006.
