Maadhu: An unholy combination of smarts and cuteness

Let's start with the following familiar image:

You recognize it, I'm sure. The good ol' states of the USA. Question is, do you remember their capitals? Try to stretch your memory back to grade school. Do you recall Hartford, Connecticut? Springfield, Illinois?

Maadhu does (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIH1I1doUI4). And he's three years old.

Of course, you may have retained your knowlege of state capitals. I'm pretty sure I did. So let's go one better.

European capitals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChqbkS-cbjY).

Still too easy?

* Asian capitals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9B93uAAop0).

* Latin American capitals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NINsJeOxiA).

* African capitals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16FGjmunDeQ), for God's sakes.

* State nicknames (parts 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHWnr9Sn_Bk) and 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCRjiycd6Og)).

* He's even tri (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Crr0qr58j44)-lingual (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcOZwO1eT-Y).

* And the Pledge of Allegiance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjN3nrcMfOI), to boot.

Alright, time for a cuteness break:

Five Little Pumpkins (http://sjc-static15.sjc.youtube.com/vi/GCS9yBYbXq4/2.jpg),

Christmas medley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qMannPa5NQ),

and a spelling bee (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-9EsFLu2t8).

So, how long do you figure 'til little Maadhu conquers the world with his adorable genius?

(Also, proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MA0VVarqP4) that he's not cheating)

He'd certainly give some of us (including myself on capitals) a run for our money! It's actually amazing how much we can learn as young kids. Like when I was 3 I could speak both English and French well. Since the age of about 5 my standard of French has declined. Imagine, though, as long as he brushes up on that information he'll be excellent at quizzes in the future, and he probably won't even remember learning them! Pain free learning!

Absolutely... I thought pretty well of myself for knowing almost all the nations in the world -- until I was put in my place by a preschooler. :p

You're assuming this sort of thing isn't fun for him.

Hey, I was interested in geography when I was younger without being forced. What's wrong with that? Besides, he doesn't look unhappy. Fidgety, maybe, but happy.

Also, even if he was forced (which he was not), it's still an amazing feat.

The child may be a prodigy but I know of many instances where Indian-American parents push their kids to excel in spelling bee stuff in a very unhealthy way. You won't believe the competitiveness and peer pressure (both on parents and the kid) in certain Indian-American communities.

there's nothing wrong with geography, i didn't say that. it's just that when i see a talented little child i automaticaly think it was forced, i'm just a bastard like that. (and i'm hating studying right now)
