Not to jack the thread, but im old enough to remember when the original was on prime time Sunday nights. Then it was must see TV, and today its must see TV. So in that perspective its the same. Compared next to each other, the writing and drama now is far superior and less campy then the old series and of course the special effects go without saying.

I asked my parents (middle aged trekkies) and they unanimously agreed on Jeri Ryan, a.k.a. Seven of Nine. Well she did have a fantastic figure (lean but she wasn't a complete stick) and was the only Voyager crewmember to have the standard costume of a skintight suit... So I can guess why she would be winning the poll.

I voted Ezri Dax, but even better is the Orion Slave Girl from the TOS episode The Menagerie, Vina. ROWR!

What attracts me to her is that she can act cute and she's a strong, intelligent woman, personality wise. I like that in women. Far better than some idiotic blonde-haired airhead people seem so attracted to these days.

Of course, a woman I'm interested in must be able to show emotion as well, which is part of why I really don't like Seven and T'Pol even though they are both intelligent.

7 of 9 will win because she is the best looking? I disagree. She will win because she is the most overtly, commercially, and commonly appealing woman in the poll. Your baseball analogy doesn't apply because pitching is an observable, quantifiable skill. Speed, control, variation, batter knowledge -- none of those things are based on opinion.

Physical allure, however is extremely subjective. Now, I'm not saying that I would say "hell no" if Jeri Ryan were to sit on my lap and tell me she was going to have her way with me and I was powerless to resist. But all things being equal, and each to their own, we all have our own preferences. Given the completely improbable situation of choosing from among the Trek universe, MY first choice wouldn't be 7 of 9. That doesn't mean I think she's homely. Far from it. She's just not what lights my fire, looking at the whole lineup in my mind and on the 'net. Again, she would if she were compared to the average woman in Bismarck, and I'd break several of my limbs for the chance to even so much as find out what those voluptuous lips taste like were she here.

Like most things in life, this question, as superficial as it may seem, is rife with potential nuance.

For example, Jeri Ryan (7 of 9), Michelle Forbes (Ensign Ro), Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), Roxanne Biggs-Dawson (B'Elanna), Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Janeway), Jolene Blalock (T'Pol), Chase Masterson (Leeta, DS9) and Jennifer Hetrick (Vash, ST:NG and DS9) all look like they could fuck you in half if they wanted to.

Another set of Trek women have a more earthy, emotional and intellectual beauty that provokes a reaction from more than just the id. Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Terry Farrell (Jadzia), Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher), Nana Visitor (Kira), Penny Johnson (Kasidy Yates), Jennifer Lien (Kes, Voyager), Linda Park (Hoshi Sato, Enterprise), and, for my money, especially Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax), have the appeal of being someone you'd want to engage in coversation before and after the id kicks in and you get down to laying pipe (or carpet, if you swing that way).

Nicole de Boer is what I call, borrowing Prince's term from his hit song "Cream", "filthy cute". In other words, looking fairly naive and youthful while being full capable of detonating one's mind in the sack.

I guess my point is, there's something to get excited about in just about every Star Trek woman. From Dr. Crusher's red hair and Deanna Troi's Greek features to the improbable racks of 7 of 9 and T'Pol, it's a feast for the eyes and the imagination.

I personally went with 7 as "hottest," for various reasons, some of which you've mentioned (i.e., your second paragraph). I think if the question had been "Which ST babe would you most want to get involved with?", or "Which ST babe do you find most attractive?", my answer would have been different. "Hotness" is definitely a component of attractiveness, at least as far as I'm concerned, but it's not the only component, and others can (and often do) outweigh it.

As for Ezri, I always thought it was a shame she was only on for one season. Prince's description is definitely applicable to her. But T'pol--ever since seeing "Amok Time" on the original series, I have concluded that Vulcan women are downright scary. I don't know how Trip handled her ;)
