Title is pretty much self explanatory, give an estimation of how much longer until the United States's downfall. And explain why...

Centuries, Maybe millennia if no major civilization-ending global catastrophes take place. It may not still be a superpower in seventy or a hundred years, but maybe it still will be one. Anyway, nations as large and rich as the US don't just disappear overnight.

Longer than you'd think.

Though I must ask, do you mean as a nation in general, or as a republic?

I'll let you have your dinner, then it will all come crumbling down tonight. Well, wait... three hours difference between East and West coasts, so uh... NY you are eating 9 pm, CA you are eating at 6 pm. Then... then it will all come crashing down.

What do you consider downfall? We wont be the richest county in the world forever. (probably arent already, though I never count the EU as a single country) We wont always have billions to thow aound and our foreign policies wont always set standards- but with a little inner-work theres no saying we cant pull through as long as a thousand years. Some counties are reaching that mark as a culture (even if not as a government).

Who can tell?

We dont know how earth will be in 10 years. Global warming can fuck all up in 10 years or less.

Global Warming will not seriously affect the world in 10 years, if it even affects it at all.

Really? I think it will.

Lets discuss it in 10 years.

As a country probably a few hundred years, but it may not be a republic for that long. It will probably fracture after that. In a few decades Florida and Louisiana may be underwater.

One decade at least. The dems will force ridiculas rules like the video game laws in Germany and most of our teenage population is screwed. Toleration for the things killing the US as a nation will increase thus speeding up Uncle Sam's end. I beleive we need a party based on reason, logic and common sense. I don't like the idea of the Us being ran by dangerous radicals. If a good part replaces both dems and reps America might last another century.

I give it ten weeks into a bona fide national emergency. After that, well - can you say "Balkanization"?

The US will not cease to exist for a long time, I imagine, although it will lose its power soon. My guess is the US will lose the bulk of its power in the next two hundred years (extremely conservative guess). I bet if Iran were to turn Israel into liquid glass (or the other way around), The US would lose its grip.

I'm only going to be a teenager for a few more months, and I personally think teenagers (under 18) need less legal rights.

Hopefully the US will last much, much longer than its government.
