Big Butter Jesus
Ok, I can appreciate people starting so many religious threads lately. It can certainly bring about a vigorous debate and people are passionate about the subject. But I really am tired about the seriousness of the topic. So I think I'll just post a little video someone was kind enough to make off of a song done on the Bob & Tom Show (I'm sure SOMEONE still listens to radio) called "Big Butter Jesus". I really think we need to joke a little about Jesus to take the edge off. And a song of a giant Jesus would certainly qualify as something amusing.
This song, I think, is to make a point that people really should not build gigantic, gaudy statues of Jesus. There are so many things about religion in general that are worth making fun of to begin with, this just SCREAMS to be laughed at. This is the only proper response frankly. And the fact that it is located so close to where I live adds a little something extra. :)

I'm told that some may find this offensive, I certainly HOPE not at any rate. I might as well ask your opinions on the matter. IS something like this offensive? I sure hope not because I'm sure not going to stop watching it. Hopefully you will enjoy it as well. I will be so disappointed no one likes it!

and how exactly is this supposed to take the "edge" off of the discussion? With it "possibly" being offensive to some...and how is joking about Jesus going to relax everybody? I can only see this as an attempt to flame those who do believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior.

I have zero problem with people poking fun at Mohammed. Religion as a whole is something that needs to be laughed at. It keeps religous fundamentalists and PC nuts from choking off free speech and goes after people who say or act foolishly. And anyone who builds a 60ft Jesus statue deserves to get at the very least an eyeroll. I certainly did that the first time I saw Touchdown Jesus.

No, its just the simple fact that Christianity is on of the few acceptable prejudices left in the US (if not the world)
