HAL Tejas vs. The Other Plane
Since I am from India, I am a patriot, and hearing about the HAL Tejas, I was wondering how it "scales up" to some of the newer planes in the world. Personally, I think it should be able to beat the F-35 JSAF in Air 2 Air combat because of it's small size and maneuverability.

I don't know anything about planes, but I felt sorry for you, and decided that this thread does not deserve to leave the front page with no replies. You're welcome.
Skimming over the wiki pages, doubtful. But if it makes you feel better...

LCA just flew PV-3 version. There is still quite a ways to go before it becomes fully ready and inducted. It is long overdue and beset with lots of obstacles. In any case, the LCA is not built to combat against F-35...it is mainly to replace the current workhorse Mig 21 and that it should be able to do.
I am more interested in what the IAF would choose for its 120 odd MRCA requirement. Russkies are ahead in that race with their offer of joint development of 5th gen fighter and the denial of RD-93 engine to the Pak-China JF-17 fighter.
What about the "MCA" (Medium Combat Aircraft) Program that has been going on in top secrecy for a couple of years now?

I still haven't gotten my multi- engine rating. So I'm still a ways off from being able to give it the pepsi challenge.

Pepsi challenge = measuring one thing against another.
No multi-engine rating = not eligible for turbo jet training = cannot fly the aforementioned aircraft.
I really can't compare HAL Tejas to an F-35 JSAF until I fly for myself.
An aircraft's performance on paper /= an aircrafts actual performance.
